Gilbert, Mehta, Seibl Win at Yamaha Cup Malaysia Rd.3

The 3rd round of the Yamaha SL Cup Malaysia Series was held at Sepang last weekend. Mitchell Gilbert made his debut in the series holding off a late challenge from Ryan Mumford to win the Senior category. This results puts Mumford a very healty lead in the championship battle with Melvin Moh only finishing in 8th.

The Senior category had its largest field yet with 20 drivers, largely thanks to a certain Alex Yoong taking part in the event. Alex wasn’t quite on the pace in karts though finishing only 12th on the final, showing that getting to the front of a kart race in Malaysia is no easy challenge.

In the  Juniors Bryan Mehta was once again at the front finishing a full 8 seconds ahead of Natasha Seatter in the Final. Daniel Woodroof finished in 3rd.

The most dominant performance of the weekend came in the cadet category with Brendan Seibl finishing over half a minute ahead of 2nd place! Things could’ve been a little bit closer however if Seibl’s main competitor Timothy Yeo didn’t have a problem forcing him to retire.
