Xeramic Challenge 2013 – Malaysia

KRS Motorsports – organisers of the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia & Asia series’ have announced the Xeramic Kart Challenge 2013 which will be held on the 15th of December in Malaysia. The 1-day event serves as a great way to round off the 2013 season as well as preparation for the opening event of 2014 – the Rotax Invitational.

Rotax Malaysia/Asia Final Round Excitement!

The Royal Pahang Kart Prix brought the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Asia & Malaysia series’ to a close as the 6th round in the championship last weekend. The track in Pekan with its twisty section and two long straights provided for great racing and exciting conclusions to championship battles.

The overall championships went to Gilbert Ang (Senior Malaysia + Asia), Melvin Moh (DD2 Asia), Daim Hishammudin (Junior Asia), Mitchell Cheah (Junior Malaysia), Arsh Johany (MicroMax Asia + Malaysia), Jeremy Nyam (DD2 Masters Malaysia), and Yong Boon Tirachaimongkol (DD2 Masters Asia). All the champions except for the MicroMax champion also earned a seat to the Rotax Grand Finals. In addition to the champions, 2nd placed Senior Malaysia driver Syazwan Mohd Noor also earned a Grand Finals seat because the Malaysia champion Gilbert Ang earned his seat thanks to his Rotax Asia title. Champions Crowned at Rotax Indonesia Finale

The 5th and final round of the Rotax Max Challenge Indonesia was last weekend at the Sentul International Karting Circuit. Senna SN (Senior), Alroy Syadavirya (Junior), and Handi Hardja (Master) took the overall title in their respective categories. The MicroMax title went to Gezha Sudirman with just 1 point separating the top 3 in the MicroMax standings! The Senior and Masters champions will go to the Rotax Grand Finals in November, while 2nd placed Junior driver Presley Martono also earned his ticket as Syadavirya is not eligible due to his age.

A new track surface which was raced on now for two weekends in a row was tearing up a fair bit thanks to high temperatures and lots of kart on track, creating incredibly slippery conditions off-line and a challenging track to keep up with setup-wise. Read the rest of this entry »

Daim Hishammudin, Akito Saito battle to the front at Rotax Asia Challenge Season Opener

Akito Saito leads Wai Cong and Teruhisa Tanaka

Daim Hishammudin (Singapore) and Akito Saito (Japan) took first place in the Junior and Senior categories respectively at the opening round of the Rotax Max Challenge Asia series yesterday at the Sepang International Karting Circuit. They both had to overcome qualifying in 5th place to make it to the front by the end of the weekend. Ang Kok Wee (Singapore) topped the charts throughout the weekend in the DD2 category, while Arsh Johany took the MicroMax win.

The Senior final started with Malaysian driver Calvin Wong (ART GP Asia) on pole position having narrowly beaten compatriots Lee Wai Cong and Izzat Hanif Norazlan to the line in the pre-final. Read the rest of this entry »
