CIK-FIA World Council Decides on a Lot

CIK-FIA UpdatesThe CIK has announced a myriad of decisions for next year, as well as the 2011 calendar.

The format of the World Championships will has usually been held over just one even be a multi-event championship in 2011. The KF1 World Championships will be held over 5 rounds in Japan, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Italy, with the first round in May and the final round in September. According to the CIK the main factory teams have commited themselves to the series.

The CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF1 and KF3 Championships will be held in Macau on the first weekend of December, while the Asia-Pacific KF2 Championship will be in Suzuka, Japan.

The technical regulations updates include a section on spark plugs. It seems some expensive modifications have been made to spark plugs requiring a regulations clarification. There are also some new technical recommendations for minikart bodywork – for ASNs to use in their national categories.

The eligibility criteria has been loosened up for the World Cup events. Now 3 national or zone events in the same category within the previous 12 months are enough to qualify a driver to enter a World Cup.
