WSK Euro Series Round 2 – Lonato

WSK Euro Series
The second round of the WSK Euro Series was held last weekend at the South Garda Karting Track in Lonato, Italy. In KF2 Australian driver Mitchell Gilbert and Indonesian driver Kevin Susilo made the final, while Thai driver Tanart Sathienthirakul had a tough weekend being classified only 65th after the heats. Kevin Susilo drove solidly in the heats starting 14th in the pre-final, but then his luck ran out with a DNF in both the pre-final and final. Mitch had 1 bad heat making it really close as he was the last (34th) driver to make the final phase. From there he worked his way to a 20th place finish in the final.

CIK-FIA Super KF Euro Champs Cancelled

The CIK-FIA Super KF European Championships have been cancelled after only 14 entries were received. The championship was to be a 3-round series, but won’t be run. The World Championships which are to be held in September in Spain are still going to go ahead as planned. The CIK-FIA is looking at the possibility of making the World Championships based on the KF2 category.

Full CIK-FIA release:
Having registered just 14 requests for entry to the Super KF European Championship, the CIK-FIA has had to take the decision to cancel it. This Championship should, in principle, have been run over three events. The European events in which the Super KF should have been run will, nevertheless, be retained as their programme includes other categories in which the number of entries has not suffered any shortfall.

KombiKart Challenge MKIII – Q & A with Ton van de Burgt

KombiKart Challenge MKIII

Kombikart is the only Dutch manufacturer of CIK-FIA homologated race karts, operating out of a 3000m2 factory in Schijndel, Holland. With only 10 permament employees Kombikart is one of the smaller kart manufacturers, but they have still achieved a lot of success particularly in Rotax Max racing (Euro Challenge and National Championships). Their factory racing effort (Hugo Motorsports) is run by team manager Hugo van der Ham, a former Dutch kart-champion and formula car driver.

The KombiKart Challenge MKIII is the company’s only kart homologated for the 2009-2014 homologation period, and some of its unique design features ensure that despite having only one kart, it is capable of handling various different kinds of tyres and engines.
