Tony Kart Announce Official 2012 Team – 5 Asian Drivers

TonyKart has announced their 2012 racing team, and dubbed Micheal Schumacher the “Godfather of the Tony Kart Racing Team.” Michael Schumacher joined the first official test of the year. Five Asian drivers are part of the prestigious team. Ling Kang, Ryota Kiyohara, and Andy Chang will compete in KF2 events. Japanese driver Kiyohara won his seat through the ROK Talent Award program.

Indonesian driver Philopaz Armand will compete in KF1 and run all the CIK-FIA World Championship events and of the WSK Euro Series. Alongside Philo will be Japanses driver Takashi Kasai. Read the rest of this entry »

Stratos Motorsports at Indonesia Kart Prix 2012

Stratos Motorsports was delighted to get invites for two of its drivers to compete in the Indonesia Kart Prix 2012 that took place last weekend at the Sentul International Circuit near Jakarta. Malaysian Daniel Woodroof was invited to compete in the Rotax Max Junior category and Indonesian Tommy Soebroto in the KF2 category.

The Indonesia Kart Prix began as an annual event in 1980. The races were very popular among top world and Asian drivers. For various reasons, the event stopped in 1990. Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) is proud to bring back the Indonesia Kart Prix for 2012. Read the rest of this entry »

Giovinazzi Wins Indonesia Kart Prix – With Pictures

Italian driver Antonio Giovinazzi has taken the KF2 title at the Indonesia Kart Prix held at the Sentul Karting circuit yesterday. 2nd place in the 4 race format went to Nicolaj Moller Madsen from Denmark, with Sami Luka rounding out the top 3. Indonesian driver Senna SN was the only non-European driver to break in to the top 5, “I didn’t have have a target in for race. I just aimed aimed to go all out. It turned out very well.”

The Rotax Junior category had the only local winner with Ananda Julio Prost taking top honors ahead of Alessio Lorandi.

Italian driver Leonardo Lorandi took 1st in the Mini ROK category making it 2 out of 3 for the Italians.

Rotax Malaysia and Asia Revised 2012 Calendar

The organisers have released a revised calendar for the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge Asia & Malalysia series. With 6 rounds this year and the invitational non-championship round held earlier this month there has never been this much Rotax racing in Malaysia before! Adding to that is a planned Rotax Invitational in Thailand in June.

There is only one change of date – with the final round moving to 13-14 October. The other changes are the provisional venues.

  1. Feb 18-19 – Subang
  2. Mar 17-18 – Subang
  3. May 12-13 – Sepang
  4. Jul 14-15 – Sepang
  5. Sep 8-9 – Pekan
  6. Oct 13-14 Sepang
  • Rotax Invitational Thailand – 2-3 June, Saraburi Circuit.

Singapore Karting Championship 2012 Race Calendar

The Singapore Karting Championship goes into its third season, with the series commencing on the last weekend of April and being decided in early December 2012.

The 2012 Race Calendar

  • Round 1 – Apr 28 to 29 (closing date 13 Apr 2012)
  • Round 2 – Jun 30 to Jul 1 (closing date 15 Jun 2012)
  • Round 3 – Jul 28 to 29 (closing date 13 Jul 2012)
  • Round 4 – Sep 29 to 30 (closing date 14 Sep 2012)
  • Round 5 – Dec 1 to 2 (closing date 16 Nov 2012)
The calendar has also been added to the KartingAsia.com Calender for easy access.

Stay tuned as pre-season testing heats up and drivers start to show form prior to the opening race of the 2012 season. With SKC Title Winners Amin Noorzilan, Thaddeus Lee, Eric Ho and Anthony Seow all defending their 2011 titles, Cadet champion Jon Lee will move up to Juniors to mix it up with Amin Noorzilan and Gabriella Teo.

Hot on the heels of defending champions will be drivers that missed out on 2011 titles including Gabriella Teo, Opai, Vincent Nathan, Saravanan Rajakumar, Ong Kian Leong, Paul lee and Kenny Yip.

Pre-season testing has also seen some much improved performances from drivers Jayden Jin, Manon Maistre and Randall Ng, all having a good chance of scoring podium positions in 2012.

The SKC management will be sending out invitations to karters to register for this year’s championship. Registrations will most likely begin in mid February. Stay tuned!
