Dont worry it'll be in 4 groups - so the heats will be grids of ~22-23 .

Prefinal and Final will be full 34.

I'll see if I can get the list up here soon.

Some big names in Seniors include Sotaro Mimura from Japan (11th in the Grand Finals last year) and almost every Malaysian driver is racing ;), including those that haven't raced in the RMC this year such as Ryan Mumford. Zahir Ali will take Sepang on again after taking part in the RMC round earlier this year. 2007 Rotax Asia Zone Max champ Ryan Haryanto will be on the grid as well. Thailand's sole representative will be Tanart Sathienthirakul. Irish driver Robert Butler is another to look out for. A bunch of Brazilian drivers are on the list as well.

What a line up! This makes it the biggest kart race in Malaysia since the Rotax World Finals in Langkawi.

I agree with Guy the money is of no interest to me I do not race karts for money but because I love racing. I have no chance of winning the money as would be the case for most of the masters and older drivers but I do not want to pay money and buy tyres to sit and watch others race, so if there is a chance of a separate race for us older folk it would satisfy all and as Guy said probably reduce the carnage that will occur with younger guys desparate for the prize money

For those of you that haven't seen the results, here's a link to the NST article today with the results.

My thanks and congratulations to the organisers, sponsors etc - it was a great event and awesome to see the regular competitors in RMC/AMC up against good international drivers. The "local" Malaysian, Indonesian and Singapore drivers did fantastically and showed how strong we are, even though the conditions were unusual - more like a European summer weekend than the normal blistering heat at Sepang.

One item of regular discussion on this forum that we may be able to put to bed now is the "Does KRS win because they cheat or have an unfair advantage" question. Anyone that followed the Pekan story knows that I don't agree with everything that happens in RMC/AMC but I think the results of the weekend should answer the "cheat" question pretty comprehensively.

Two of the KRS RMC champions - Zarul in MM and Nabil in Junior now drive for me. As KRS "lease" chassis and engines to drivers, they arrived in the team without any equipment. We've supplied them with a GP racing chassis and last week, we bought a new junior engine for Nabil and put together a MicroMax engine for Zarul from a new senior engine I had in stock plus a used P8 junior cylinder and a used MM kit. Both Nabil and Zarul won, beating their regular foes and a bunch of overseas people. All we did on the engines was run them in carefully and then strip them and balance the crank. The scrutineering yesterday was the most thorough I've seen outside the world finals - with Rotax Austria people supervising - and we had 2 DQ's for technical infringements (including one of the sponsors drivers) so we can safely say that all the drivers on the podium were using standard engines that hadn't been modified, blueprinted or whatever. So, the conclusion is that to win what you really need is a good chassis (which almost everyone has), a well maintained engine and the best driver. KRS had all three this year in the MM, Junior and Senior classes and that's why they won races and championships Lucky for me, I've got 2 of them now :-).

So, let's stop complaining about non existent issues and find a solution to ensure that no-one tries to buy instant success with blueprinting or overseas "tuning" - that's a disaster for driver development in any case. One suggestion for James - I'd be happy to see, and pay, an additional charge on the entry fee to fly a Rotax person in from Austria for every round of RMC. Any other takers?

I echo John's comments on the "cheating". For years there has been paddock talk especially about a certain dominant Junior driver having special engines. I've seen Nabil jump into other Junior drivers' karts time and again going several tenths faster proving that it is the driver that is making the difference (in conjunction with a properly setup and maintained engine+kart of course). He's also won races in Senior Max and Senior Yamaha. Hopefully last weekend with the extra stringent technical checks and competition will finally be enough to show that he actually kinda knows how to drive :!: Nabil I'm expecting a top 10 or better performance in Egypt ;).

Likewise for Afiq - another strong race and he was able to give the international guys some resistance. Unfortunately I was off form all week.

Anyone that watched the MicroMax race could also see that Zarul didn't have the fastest kart in a straight line but still crossed the line at the front. His results are down to a lot of practice and coaching (when he was with KRS he was at the track on occasion 5 days in a row with coaching from the mechanics and other KRS drivers, and I'm sure that practice has continued with JK).

And ditto on congratulations to organisers and sponsors for a great event. Largest grids in Malaysia this decade! (other than the grand finals of course.)

Maybe I should also make the same offer James often did. Nabil's engine is for sale if anyone wants it. RM9000 and I'll even supply a manual so the 1,000 pieces it's in after scrutineering can be reassembled into something usable for the next race :-)

I must say it has been a great weekend. Thanks guys for showing up and supporting the race. It can only get better each time we organise the next event. It was fun doing it for all of you but the best comfort I get although it was a nightmare weekend for me, was seeing all of you on the grid.

I am simply amazed and appalled by the number of drivers WHO DO NOT READ THE SR ISSUED. There were 3 disqualifications over the weekend. One in the Micromax who used glycol in the radiator. Of course the Team pleaded innocence as they do not know the rules. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Any infringement will lead to DQ.

The second driver in the junior, having made a right choice of tyres ran away hands down. Unfortunately at scrutineering, it was found that he used NON-STANDARD GASKET. It is clearly stated in the Rotax Technical Regulations 2009 that only Genuine Rotax components MUST BE USED! If you follow the rules, you will not have this problem.

The third driver to be penalised takes the cake and was one of the most unusual I have ever seen. That driver was caught by officials for having asked his Team manager to test his kart during warm up on Sunday. The team manager, being someone who is so experienced in racing should know better than to do it. The driver was fined RM1000 for this infringement and was excluded from the event. The team manager was given a severe warning. I really do not understand this situation. What are they trying to prove? Let this be a warning to all drivers that rules will be enforced and you run the risk of losing your licence if you try this sort of stunts.

I must thank John King for his kind words. I feel vindicated after what he has written. I will always run a straight race with no advantage to anyone be it my own drivers. As long as I am there as an official, everyone will be treated the same. The Rotax Scrutineer cost me RM10K to bring him in for this race. Since JK is now richer with USD8000 in his kitty, how about paying some of this cost???

Nice try James but you can work out as well as me how much I've actually got after the drivers taking a share, paying mechanics bonuses etc etc - somewhere closer to zero than usd 8,000. If you add up how much I spent at KRS in the last two weeks, my guess is you've probably got more in your kitty than me :-) How about I buy you and your guys dinner at Sharm?

From a spectator point of view who only saw the finals..., all there finals were great races especially with the rain, throwing some variables into the game.

On the Micromax, I swear I could not be sure who will be at the podium top step at the start of the last lap - it was that exciting. Pity, the Junior winner had a technical infringment - so congrats to Nabil ( and I know he CAN drive ), John and thanks to James for revealing the reason for the winner's DQ.

On the senior, congrats to also Afiq for his solid 3rd placing but I must say Martin Pearce's driving and strategy was impressive.

All in all, a wonderful event and to see so many karters participating in this event. James & the organisers must have hit the right button to get so many entries!

All the best to our drivers competing in the World Finals!

Cheers,
Jules
