RMC Grand Finals

Postby james lee » Fri Oct 09, 2009 5:26 pm

Sorry Guy,
eventhough you locked the topic but I am somewhat compelled to join in the "GF representative" discussions since my name was mentioned earlier. So, I posted this new topic to air my views.

Firstly, James Lee is not a Singaporean. I am a Malaysian racing in the RMC using AAM license. So, there is no way I am supposed to represent Singapore.

Secondly, As the system goes, the best positioned driver goes.

Lastly, For those of you who were in RMC Rd5, surely you saw how fast Jack was. He is definitely up there with the front runners. Inexperienced Yes, Slow - definitely No. I see no reason why he should not be racing in the GF. Who knows, he may even suprize us all.

Just my two cents worth - from a Driver's point of view.
:) Cheers

hi hi,

I locked the previous thread - it was going too far off-topic and into undesirable territory.

As an "outsider" that very proudly represented Malaysia is the last 2 grand finals, it seems to me that we need to consider the criteria that should be used for selection:

1) Does the person hold a racing licence in the country stated?
2) Did he/she drive in the category in question, and was the position better than the other drivers from the same country (i.e. with the same country licence)

In both cases for Jack the answer is yes. So, he deserves the place and as Rob said, he'll learn a lot and improve with the experience. He'll find it extremely difficult but that doesn't mean he shouldn't go.

I've not driving but I'll be there to cheer on all of our Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia based drivers that gained their selection fair and square - and that certainly includes Jack.

I have to agree with Mr King and James Lee. For those of you who were not at Rd 5 of the RMC - Jack actually won one of his heats fair and square beating Miko and co convincingly.

Surely the fact that he is young and inexperienced would be the best reason for him to go. The younger you are the quicker you learn and for Jack this will be an excellent stepping stone on his rise up the karting ladder.

Good Luck

Andalso now it sounds like you are the King... Mr King... haha

Anyway, about this guy Jack... i am not completely following...
it's a kid who is 15 (?) and is Rotax Senior Champion? or.... something else?

So why shouldn't he go? the younger the better... and afterall, the rotax GF, is all about the driver and setup... which is very good te learn... not have to setup tuned engines or run in CIK tyres at the right temp... etcetc... so let this kid do his thing than...
This weekend we had a very young driver (only 15y old) in the KZ2 Monaco Grand Prix...
he even fighted with Bas Lammers for 1st position !!! and he did a crash with Bas after all...
but however, he will learn from this... 1 step at a time, and take everyoppertunity !

ciao, Kristof
