New style Rotax Clutch

Postby badgeman » Tue Sep 22, 2009 11:15 pm

I wanted to let those running the new Rotax clutch not to start motor without drum.

Here is the reply I got from rotax. You may want to pass on to others in case they do the same thing I did.

To Rotax Tech Support: rotax new style clutch
I started my rotax engine without clutch drum now the drum will not fit clutch. I guess I should not have started motor.
Do you know of a way to fix cluch disk or is it now a paper weight.

Dear Mr. Helmuth,

please note that any engine may be started with all components fitted only!
It is not allowed to start the ROTAX 125 MAX engine without the clutch drum fitted.
The centrifugal clutch is manufactured with a pre-tension of the fly weights.
If the fly weights have been overstressed, the centrifugal clutch is destroyed and can not be repaired but just replaced by a new one.

Thank you for your understanding.
