need some info for karting in the philippines

Postby cavitedad » Sat May 23, 2009 3:25 pm

hello all,
please help,
i bought a hire kart for my kids to play on around the sub division. they love'd it so much i have promised to get them a "proper" kart.
so where can i take my kids so they can learn how to drive on a curcuit?
are there any rules to what they can drive?
what catogories are available for kids to race in? they are aged 5 to 12.
do i have to join a club to use a circuit like carmona or batangas?
can i just arrive with kart and kids and drive?
many thanks
cavitedad

also any other tips for a karting dad?

Hi MAn !

Always nice to hear some new kids are starting over there.
The biggest tip, is this: always be calm with your kids... and make sure they have FUN, so for the first few times, just let them drive aound the track... it doesn't matter if the drive the
"ïdeal lane" or not.... That is somehting that will come afterwords !
If you have any other questions, just contact me, it is a pleasure...
And ofcoure a lot of people here can help you out too !

Ciao, Kristof

hi DM,
thanks for the advice, i always try to keep my cool with the kids.
we bought an old hire kart that i set up for the kids and let them drive around.
they loved that so much i went and bought a used cadet kart so they can go to the track.
now i will see about joining the local kart track.
many thanks.

For your 5 year old there won't be any racing categories yet (most countries have racing starting at either 7 or 8), but for the 12 year old it would be either a cadet category or at least next year already in Junior categories.

Carmona is by far the most used karting track in The Philippines so that's where you should be to have a look.

At most tracks you can usually just show up, pay a track fee and start driving. For your kids for the first time few times you should go when the track isn't busy, and for the very first session or two if there are others at the track you can probably ask them if you could have the track only for your kid(s) for 10 minutes.

This for safety and so that the kids don't get frightened right away ;).

Hi There !

The best thing to do is start surfing on the net, and you will learn automaticly.
For sure it hard to find some people want to help you out. But there will be people making good prices for you... but still watch out what you do... Some people make promisses.... but there it stops again allready...

If you have any questions we are willing to help you out ! no problem

hello trinity,
yes the best thing to do is research on the internet... its free.
then you can try a hire kart at either "speedzone" near Mall of Asia or at Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa.
also this weekend you can go to Carmona race track to watch the international racers. you can meet many frindly racers and familys that will advise you.
also everyone knows someone selling a kart! so beware to know what you want and what its worth.
also there is a great differance between the hire fun karts and the proper 2 stroke race karts.
you will need some expirience in the hire karts before you decide to spend xxxxxx peso on something unsuitable.
where are you based?
what class do you want to drive in?
hope this helps
phil

Hey guys,

What karting regulation does the Philippines or individual track follows? For example, we follow the WKA and their guidelines. Let me know, thanks.
