I've just seen the launch picture of the new F60 for 2009. It took me a while to process the 'radically' different looks of the new car. Wide & low front wing, coupled with tall & narrow rear wing. And do they lower the sidepod? I wonder if their engine doesn't need cooling as much as the 2008 version did. The slick wheels are okay, but they look kinda imposing compared to the low bodywork from nose to tail.

So, do you like the new 2009-spec F1 cars? Please vote!

I really love the smooth lines on the body of all the new cars now that all the little winglets aren't there anymore.

The front wing I'm already starting to get used to - if it was higher it would look horrible. If they were less "bulky" they'd look really nice, just like the early 90s F1 cars.

The rear wing is where it all falls apart and that will takes ages to get used to.. I wonder what the science was behind not just making single-element rear wings that could still be wide enough to look nice!

Not really a fan of the Ferrari mirrors.

The cars all look really nice viewed directly from the side, and low down (such as THIS PICTURE). From almost any other angle the rear wing just makes it look out of proportion.

Oh yeah and the slicks look wicked!

Yea, will have to agree that the tail just looks out of place. Oh well, i guess it wont look TOO odd, when the other cars line up with the same tail.

Well front wing looks like its from another much wider car (or pinched from a road grader), rear wing from a 60's Brabham but it still kinda looks like a racing car. Happy to see no winglets, bull horns or walrus noses as we have in past years, but I guess it's early days yet and no doubt the care "has enormous potential". I'm sure the "enormous potential" will be reiterated endlessly. According to media reports on its first outing, Massa's driving was described by onlookers as "tentative". Doesn't that usually only happen when the racing driver is lacking confidence in his car? On a non-ferrari topic, it appears from driver reports that most current revisions of KERS are "weird to drive" with a number of teams testing both KERS and non-KERS configurations. Kubica is on record as saying he believes that KERS will be a disadvantage for him due to his weight....how does that work?? Melbourne could be VERY interesting.

On the other hand, Honda's paint job over the last couple of years (especially 2007) won't be missed at all!

Woo hoo! McLaren has launched their MP4-24 car! I have to say it looks fantastic! Of course the long nose still makes it weird but overall this car LOOKS (I'm not saying it's faster) absolutely more refined than Ferrari's or Toyota's! And from what I read, I believe this launch car is actually their second chassis! Their first one is already on track at Portugal, ready to roll out tomorrow. Wow, a team that's actually ahead of their schedule!

Sadly since the demise of Super Aguri & Minardi I don't have any favorite team to support. So go STR! I'll always root for the underdog!
