Discuss the 2009 Karts!

Postby Mikko Nassi » Mon Jan 12, 2009 6:29 pm

I'll be publishing some Q & A type articles with several of the kart manufacturers that have karts homologated for the 2009-2014 period. It will give us a bit more detail on what went into the development of the new karts.

I've started it off with the Arrow X1 (click for the article), and next in line is Kombikart. This thread is for open discussion on all the karts and the articles.

KombiKart Challenge MKIII has been added. Interestingly Ton mentioned that they tried a front-end solution similar to the new Maranello 8 years ago, but couldn't get it working in all conditions and didn't get it approved by CIK.

Arrow X1 - not bad but the graphics were best described by another as "Gay". Captain Arrow?? What were they thinking??? Must admit the ride height cam adjustment is SWEET! As for some of the other "features" - so what was the question??? On track here in Oz the X1 clearly rides the bumps much better than the old BMax. Seems to be a bit softer and rolls (rather than pitches) a little more in corners. Handy weapon overall.

Kombikart Mk3 - twice as many bars to remove and store and it will still have too much rear end grip in Malaysia - but then again, most karts with two rear wheels will have! I can handle the graphics even if they are a bit "2006". Wouldn't mind testing it though. Looks like it'd be quite reasonable to pretty good.

Maranello - has anyone heard a positive review of the chassis? I mean something more positive than "oh it was OK"?

We (DMmotorsport) tested in 2008 with our Jesolo Karts on our 2008-2009 JP2 chassis.
We (together with the factory) used the JP2 chassis with 2 front torsion bars, AND we made the chassis soft, so we could bring in some grip in rain and some grip in hot weather, BUT here it is only 3 months more than 23 degrees.....
( with here i mean Belgium, Netherland, Luxembourg, Germany.. As i am distributor for Jesolo karts for this area, and have a racing team driving European Championship)

NOW for 2009 i will arrange the distribution for all over Asia/Pacific for Jesolo kart....
I will sork together with somebody which you all know ! (LAter about that...)

For the Asian tracks ( a lot of rain, but still dry and hot tracks ), AND for the European Championship on the HOT Italian, French and Spanisch tracks we made the Jeslo JP1 EVO.
The prototype chassis did well on ALL types of weather on all types of tyres fron medium up to soft... 1 of these JP1evos is coming over to Asia and will be driven there buy one of the most upcoming drivers in Asia...

I tell this because i see people are looking for chassis than can stand the temps, the grip, and so on and so on.... FOR this reason we come up with this type of chassis that is general HARDER, after the tests in Malaysia in the end of February we bring in some updates on our SuperKF chassis wich is also build to have a lot of grip on the front... Ideal for NON-shifter karts, to turn in smoothly into the corners...
The prototype of it has won the German ICA and ICA junior class in 2007 2008, and we became ItalianOpenMasters Champion in 2004, 2005, and last year again !

Our team will be under leading of Malaysian people which will be supported by our mecanics over there !!!

Conclusion, you will hear more about this chassis soon!
