2009 RMC and KKS Race Dates Update

As announced on the Rotax Malaysia/Asia website:

There will be a few changes to the dates of the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia and Asia seres events.

As the 7th-8th February is still part of Chinese New Year, the organiser with consent from the RMC Promoter has agreed to postpone the Round 1 RMC Malaysia series to 7th-8th March in place of KKS race round 2 which will in turn be moved to the 29th of March.

RMC round 2 and AMC round 1 will now be held on 11th-12th April in Kota Bharu as the earlier date in March was not accepted by HRH Sultan of Kelantan. Competitors can start booking their air tickets as the date is now firm.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes have caused as we know that planning ahead is crucial for teams, drivers, and parents. We thrive towards minimizing any changes in race dates and limit any changes to when it is unavoidable to ensure that the events can be held successfully.

So in Short:

RMC Malaysia Round 1 Moved to 7th-8th of March.
KKS Round 2 moved to 29th March
RMC Malaysia Round 2 / RMC Asia Round 1 moved to 11th-12th April.

URGH!!!!! This means another change to my retirement party date. I moved it from 4th April to 28th when the KB delay was announced now have to change again :-(

For those who want to fly to Kota Bharu, check out Firefly. I booked my tickets Subang-KBR-Subang for RM70. The taxi to and from the airport will cost me more than that!

Wow - that's a good deal. Unfortunately my new role as team boss means that I'll probably be in convey with a truck :-(

Still, at least it avoids my well known fear of flying :-)

Sorry to have inconvenienced John on his retirement party due to the change of dates. It was most unfortunate that the dates have to be changed due to the Chinese New Year for round 1 and also the Sultan of Kelantan was not available for the dates chosen. I have tried using 4/5 April but that falls on the same time as the Malaysian F1. So we had to move to 11/12 April.

These dates are now firmed so you can go ahead to book the air tickets. The SR as well as the hotel/car booking form will be out next week as soon as I get back from UK. I will also make sure any other changes will be communicated to all at the soonest.

I hope 2009 will be a good year for all drivers. As a start the winners of all 5 rounds in the junior, senior, masters and DD2 will receive a voucher amounting to RM300.00 for use for purchase of parts or other items sold by KRS. I am also looking at giving something to the second and third winners too. So please come out in force to support the races for 2009.

May i know where can i download the RMC 2009 Entry Forms & Regulations.
Need them to get my son's entry form ASN stamped for Round 1.

Not available yet. But no worries, you've got another 6 weeks before round 1 now.

Entry forms should be available next week.

There'll be an online entry form as well, and you only need to send in your entry details once (if you use the online entry form). You won't have to fill in a new entry form for every single round. I always hear drivers complaining about having to fill in the form every single ^%@^ race so that is fixed now.

There will also be a requirement to book (and pay) for your tires in advance, including any practice tyres you need. Those that don't pay in advance will have to pay a bit extra for their tyres (RM50 per set). This is to ensure that there is always an adequate amount of tyres for the competitors not only for the race that the tyres are being booked for but it also allows the organisers to know further in advance if they need to order new tyres for the next round.

The tyre booking can also be done online starting next week.

Kota Bharu is the most northern town in malaysia on the East Coast, quite close in the Thailand border. To get there, you'll need to fly to KL then there's cheap flights there from KL - about 45 mins.

The DD2 class should be OK this year in AMC - hopefully we'll get 8++ entries. If you want to race, give me a shout - we might be able to do an arrive/drive deal with my Intrepid - I'm semi-retired as a driver now :-)
