Jules, remember Bas Lammers fitness regime? 10km run 1st thing in the morning, weights on the head while lying down to strengthen the neck muscle. Instead of weights, can we put papaya instead? I heard some chinese papaya are pretty weighty.......

Anyway, running/swimming alone won't help coz they only build stamina at a consistent heartbeat. You need to do something like tennis/soccer/rugby where you lots of short bursts of energy.

Weili...

Welcum! Ha ha I like ur ideas. Weighty Papayas - CHinese ones!

On ur other suggestion - running with some pre-assigned sprinting in between helps.....not that I can do that easily.

That's what interval training is for (running, swimming), :D

Another good type of training is Circuit training.

Highly Effective and not time consuming at all. It builts stamina and endurance for muscles for all major body parts.

When we used to use the softer tyres (YGK), the hands and fingers got a real working, and cramped up easily if you hadnt karted for a while. So Just driving once a week used to get my hands fit for the job, and you can get small springs from a gym equipment shop to squeeze together... they make strong hands and fingers.

On Mojos its hardly and issue.. but still worth doing if you want to be highly fit in every department.

I think karting in Europe might require a slightly different kind of fitness compared to karting in most of Asia - In hot Asian countries you need stamina for long races in 30C+ temperatures, but you usually don't get anywhere near the levels of grip that are in Europe, whereas in Europe you mainly need good upper body strength/stamina for the high-grip tyres and tracks, but you don't get exhausted from heat. :D
