Anyone know what the regulations will be this year. 13 days to Round 1 and it would be nice to know what tyres we're using....

The KKS race calendar for 2009 has not been confirmed by any SR or ASR yet.

The Kartmore team will be racing in Sentul on the same weekend as the proposed Round 1 2009.

I would take a wild guess and say there won't be a KKS race on January 18th...

To try to help make sure that the grids are as big as possible for the Juniors and Cadets, I'm offering arrive/drive packages at as low a price as possible - a complete 2 day package including everything - supply of kart, engine, tyres (new set of Deli's for race), fuel, mechanics etc for rm2000. The junior chassis will be one of my ex-race ones so reasonable although not top-class any more. The engines will be competitive. The cadet chassis are good (but 3-4 years old) MBA ones so not particularly competitive but good beginner karts.

At the moment I've only got the engine for 1 junior but hopefully will get the others in time for the race. If you're interested please let me know.

You'll need to speak to Paul. If it will help, I'll get some from him and keep them in my shop as long as this doesn't mean the tyres will be disqualifed as being from another source :-).

Those who need the Deli Racing tyres, please contact Chan at KRS. We are bringing the tyres in on behalf of the Club.

Thanks John. No worries about eligibility as the SRs do not mention that the tyres for the 125 Open class have to be purchased from the Club, so any Deli tyre from any source would be legal as long as they are presented to the Scrutineer for marking prior to the race.

For karters who don't like to read Regulations please note that front brakes are not permitted for 125 Open.

Well Alex, you may be wrong to assume that. The Club is the official supplier of the Deli Racing Tyres although KRS brought in for them. KKS has full control over the sale of the tyres. Therefore I would like to remind drivers looking for the Deli tyres contact Mr Chan. I know for sure the tyres are being air freighted in for this race.

Dear James,

I am not assuming anything. I am merely following the SRs as released by the Club:

C. Formula 125 Open
1. Chassis
Shall conform to the C.I.K. Technical Regulations except where stated below:
The following are banned: Parts made from Kevlar, carbon fibre (other than seats).
1.1 Transmission
Drive must be direct by means of a single length of chain from the clutch sprocket to the rear
axle sprocket. All methods of chain oiling or greasing while the kart is in motion are forbidden.
A chain guard is compulsory and must cover the top of the engine sprocket, the chain and the
axle sprocket up to the centre line of the rear axle. There must be sufficient side protection to
prevent a finger from being caught between the chain and the engine sprocket.
Clutch is free but oil clutches are not permitted.
1.2 Rear Axle
Solid or hollow, magnetic and parallel with a maximum diameter of 50 m.m.
1.3 Sprockets
Free
1.4 Brakes
Hydraulic only and operating on only the rear axle.
1.5 Wheels and Tyres
Wheels may be mono or two piece. Hubs may be separate or integral.
Tyres: Deli
Dry: Front: 4.50 x 10 - 5
Rear: 7.10 x 11 - 5
Wet: Front: 4.00 x 10 - 5
Rear: 6.00 x 11 - 5

There is nothing under the Formula 125 Open class that says tyres have to be bought from the Club or Kartmore. That's what the Club says, not what I assume....

Sorry if I used the word assumed. The right word would be "Do what you like!" The Club has the last say and for us at KRS, I really don't care if Deli is used or any other tyres. Its really up to KKS to resolve this. We brought in the tyres to help out the series. Not my call if at the end of the day there are no tyres.

Ah James, you are getting too sensitive and crotchety in your old age.

The Club has the famous oral ASR:

Jurisdiction
Held under the National Competition Rules of AAM, incorporating the International Karting Regulations of the CIK/FIA and
these Supplementary Regulations and any Additional Supplementary Regulations issued by the Organiser whether written or
oral shall have the same force as these regulations subject to the provisions of NCR B 5.4.

I am sure all will be resolved by race day.
