Yo liquidsky!

I'm not sure what's the difference between those engines, but what I know for sure is Comer engines will not be used in future competitions. From what I gather from my conversation with James Leong, you'd better off buying a Rotax or Vortex. Rotax has a 125cc with limiter that you can use in cadet class.

As I'm also a newbie, you might want to talk to a more experienced one, like mbak Meylucky. She goes by "msn" nickname in this forum. Just PM her with your question, and surely she will help you.

not that expert as Yenchen said.... :oops:

if u live in Indonesia , u can still use comer.from the information i collected , our national championship still use comer..because its a start up class...so it seems.from every coach i see in indonesia , they all put their new students to comer first...

regarding the difference....i kinda forgot! 8) but i'll ask around again and let u know the result....

Comer is still being used in Indonesia for their Cadet class although for 2009 they are also starting the Micromax class. The micromax class is using a junior max engine with a downgrade kit to bring the power to the Comer range. Later you can upgrade the engine to a junior max. Pak Renzi's son has tried the micromax in KL this month for the KKS race and he liked it very much. Ask Pak Renzi and I am sure he can help you.

Regarding the Comer 60, I am not sure which model will be discontinued either K or W. Please check with your ASN or Pak Renzi.

For Malaysia, the Comer 60 is dying out and most cadet drivers have shifted to micromax. So if you are planning to race in KL also, then you have to buy a micromax or rent one for the race. We do rentals also.

Thanks for the reply guys..

I just found out what the c, k and w are.
c=no liner for the piston. Piston to engine block
k= slightly bigger hp
w= uses piston liner.

Ok now Im getting a bit confused here. So in a 8-12 cadet class, micromax is allowed? Not only comer k60? I thought I heard to race the cadet class, only the k60 engine is allowed?

Sorry for the confusion, cause Im in the market of getting a new engine and I dont want to buy something that can be used only for a short period of time.

Some of the ASN in other countries specifically put Comer 60 as a start for Cadet drivers from 8-12 years. In Malaysia we do not have a specific although we would love to do it. The Rotax Max series is a commercially funded series and one of the classes introduced is the Micromax class to cater for the cadet from 8-12 years. The Rotax junior engine is used for this class plus a downgrade kit to bring the power to that of the Comer 60. The convenience of using the micromax is it is a standard engine with no modifications since the engine will be sealed and checked by the Rotax distributor.

It is also electric start so it is much easier for the driver to restart when he spun out of if the engine went dead. From the micromax the same engine can be upgraded back to a Junior max engine and the driver can continue to use it when he comes of age to 12 years.

In Indonesia, I understand the Comer 60 class falls under the National Championship class while the Micromax will be a commercial class and not counted towards the NC.

Hope the above is of help to you.

You should promote the Comer class a lot ! Here in Europe we use the Parilla WTP, Vortex and Comers for the Cadet class ( we call the class: Mini's) NOW there is also the Micromax involved.... Still this engine is hevy and has not that good carburettor, FOR 2009 we (as a tuner) we can make the air-cooled (non-sealed) engine go faster... with the right knowledge of preparation. ALSO the carburettors can learn the pilots to setup while driving, which is good when they take a step up to KF-classes in the future, wich i think will be soon.

My team (Here in Europe-Belgium) is specialized in starting carreers for young drivers, from all over the world, and i see that the youngsters which are used to butterfly carburettors are learning this fasters.... AND ofcourse the MicroMax costs a lot more to buy ...

Afterall the Max-engine is sealed and you can not tune the engine...... CAN NOT TUNE THE ENGINE, at least, that is what the regulations and sealings are for, but ..... (!)

Ciao, Kristof
