Brazil F1 Title Decider!!!

Postby yenchen23 » Mon Nov 03, 2008 11:29 am

Finally, some cliffhanger in Brazil! :drunken: What a last lap! Even until now I still can't believe Lewis won the championship! I'm still kind of expecting they will come up with another penalty for him! I don't know, maybe for not parking his car correctly, or by hugging his team before he's weighed! :D It's a bizarre sight of him trying to put the steering wheel back on while the Honda in front of him was burning!! He flatly refused the track marshall that was trying to get him to safety for the fear of getting penalized! So he still tried to reattach the steering wheel even though that burning Honda rolled downhill and hit his front wing!

One thing for sure, my opinion of Massa has increased considerably! I wish the whole Ferrari team are as sporting as him and Raikkonen. He's very gracious in defeat! Hats off to him! Take heart, there's still next year. :D

Firstly, i would like to say "What a Race!".Ya,I stillcant believe what a total luck change for Hamilton. When it seem all was lost there was just a small snap of luck that turn Massa from hero to zero. Hamiton had survived as World Champion at the end of the season even with 'Ridiculous Penalties'. He deserved it fair enough.Eventhough I am a Hamilton fan, I have to say that Massa did very well too for the whole season, but in the end his efforts was just too little too late. There is always next year, but not for David Coulthard, retirering from a marvalous journey on Formula 1. I am also happy that my efforts for waking up 1am in the morning to watch the GP paid off!!! kongmw

You're right, the championships were not won or lost because of Brazil but from the races prior to that.

The ridiculous penalties actually engineered the last race showdown in Brazil and what a race it was. Massa was fantastic but Hamilton was equally good - his strategy was working until the last minute rain shower turned it into a cliffhanger. Glock was 20 seconds slower on the last lap than his previous lap. If the rain was a little lighter for the last two laps Massa would be WDC.

Let's see what next year brings. Perhaps Toyota can spring a surprise with the introduction of KERS?

What made the tension of the weekend, and what had happened before, worthwhile was to see the celebrations in the Ferrari pit for the 30 seconds they thought Massa was champion. It's just a shame the FIA stewards weren't there as well at the point where they realised Hamilton had sneaked into 5th place.

Watch out for Honda next year, they've been working hard on KERS, will gain from Ross Brawn magic and still have one of the best drivers in Button! Or am I just being optimistic :-)

That race was absolutely awesome!!!

Ironically McLaren and Lewis' conservative approach in Brazil very, very nearly lost them the title!!! That would've been just amazingly cruel.
