Postby JohnKing6 » Wed Oct 08, 2008 5:55 pm

OK, so who's racing this weekend? Terence, David Turner, me plus one other driver (TBA) will be there driving a mixture of Intrepids and older chassis and a Leopard, modified Rotax and some standard Rotaxs.

Unfortunately Ryan will be sitting this one out - his Form 3 exam starts on Monday. All the best to the racers - keep the rubber side down.

Alex, sorry to hear Ryan would not be racing this weekend. Perhaps he will go for the AMC 5 in Hong Kong.

Speaking about the AMC round in Hong Kong, I had a call from Hong Kong Kart Club - ASN and organiser for the race that they would certainly like to have more Malaysians, Indonesians, Thais coming for this inaugural race after so many years of not having an International meeting. I have told HKKC that in all the AMC rounds hotel accomodation was provided except this round. HKKC told me that they are working on a tight budget and not in a position to sponsor anyone. However, they said that if this event is successful, it is sure that they will provide the accomodation and other goodies for 2009.

Please consider all you drivers. We now have 10 drivers going with 4 from Indonesia.

No worries James - he has to focus on school for now, but he will be back in training for La Conca as soon as the exam is over. He has to learn that school has a slightly higher priority than karting...

In the 125 Open - the race went smoothly without any serious incidents.
It was the 1st time I joined KKS 125 Open race. Didn't know what to expect especially since I was using a Standard Rotax against some IAMEs & Mod Rotax. Suprisingly, with a good set-up, it was front row most of the time for me.
Afiq was untouchable in all the heats except that in the Final, his front tyres were almost gone & his neck was giving way.
It was quite a race filled with troubles for my Rotax. Every race, the Clutch springs were either broken or the Clutch shoe was broken. This has resulted in drop of bottom tremendously when the clutch was engaged during low speeds in tight corners. Had a very hard time coming out of corners & also had to drive extremely smooth to roll the kart in & out.
Anyway, great fight at the end part of the race. Afiq did a smart move in the last corner to stick into the inside which made me take a bigger turn into the marbles & lost grip thus came out 2nd. It was good clean racing.
Congrats to the champ.

Ha ha....I thought I was seriously unfit! ( yeah neck troubles too... ) In fact, my hard charging team mate has trouble with using pens and chopstick the next day! LOL

Anyhow, thinking about it - it was a tough day for the drivers as the organisers really packed one 2 day event of RMC into a one day event! We had warmups, qualifyers, 2 x 15 lap heats, 20 laps pre Final and 25 laps Final. I clocked 88 laps....for the day.

To matters worse, there were in total 3 classes and just when you caught your breath - its time for action again! Yeah the on-off-on-off rain help keep it tense too but I must say, if the weather stayed HOT the whole day, I for one - would had suffered much more!

Anyhow, my race was nothing to tell except I did see some great battles midpack. Had a dice or two with John King who was unusually slow this round - engine troubles.

I had a terrible qualifying but did enjoy good clean racing on this day tho made 2 driving errors ( JK passed me both times - darn! ). Surprisingly I had no physical frontal contacts with others even at the starts and maybe that's why I am down the pack! SIGH.

I hope at the Rd 2 - the tyre choice is annouced early and the number of heats reduced....since it's likely to be at Elite for that round. ( so I heard )

Congrats again to Afiq, James and David!
Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

Hi Karnasingh,

Ryan will be competing in AKOC Saraburi from 31 Oct - 2 Nov. You should seriously consider sending Parth too - big field expected in Juniors, challenging circuit, excellent organisation, a lot of competitive track time - 2 qualy sessions, 3 heats plus prefinal and final. Plus friendly people, good food and a 2-star hotel that costs a pittance...

We will be renting a kart from Simon Tan for the event, so it will be a good simulation of La Conca for Ryan and Choo Ming - unfamiliar circuit, unfamiliar kart and a short time to get everything set up!
