KKS race calendar

Postby Geoff Green » Sun Oct 05, 2008 9:41 am

Can anyone confirm if there is a KKS race on 12th October and where is it? - cannot find anything except a tentative note in City Karting site.

Yes thanks John.
Paul David also sent me an email - Sepang it is unless the sky falls in or something similar.

Not sure yet - waiting for Paul to confirm. Open 125 seniors for sure, maybe masters (as part of seniors), maybe a straight Rotax class. Plus juniors and cadets of course.

Its less than 7 days to event.....and I am really frustrated trying to find out on such vital info so I can prepare to put my entry....tyres is for one, alongside with what class open to seniors other than the open wallet OPEN CLASS.

KKS can surely do better than this!

I for one have had no official notification on this event other then the few posts on this forum, it makes it difficult to plan if will be able to race or not, no wonder the number of entries are down and I have also m heard that the yamaha round 4 event is on the same day

Here it is the 7th October and I finally get an email from Paul David along with everyone else confirming this Sundays race with Supp regs and an entry form stating the closing day for entry is 3rd October, 4 days ago that is real efficiency in action

gary,

before this, I have wrote emails, called and smsed Paul David on the race details - but got not even a reply. The last call was just now.

For the open category ( which is the only senior category available ) - there's a tyre rule which allows MRF and Mojos......which is mind boggling. Why is it so hard to get a decent answer?

I paid my entries in March 2008 for the then planned april round....and now I just feel so lost!

The tyre rule is weird. I guess you can chose between the cheaper MRF tyres and get badly beaten or pay the money for the Mojo's...

For those that haven't received a copy of the regs and entry form, I've put one on my website www.johnkingkarting.com

Jules,

Dont expect an answer from Paul David, since I have been racing in Malaysia he has never answered one of the emails I have sent him.

I see this as just plain rude and they wonder why drivers arent interested in supporting the club races here. These guys just make the rules to suit themselves without considering us the drivers/club members opinions. In any normal club it is the members (drivers) who make decisions and vote on how they would like to see things run, but unfortunately that doesnt happen here and we never get the opportunity to voice our opinions or ideas and when we do you never get an answer anyway.

Just remember in any club a commitee member only has the same voting power as a member (us the drivers) and until the members are all prepared to make a stand and front the commitee on their thoughts and way forward nothing will ever change

Gary,

Yes, I agree with you, its rather sad that even amongst the small group of drivers we presently have in the country ( SG included ), we get dished around.

Dun get me wrong - I have nothing against any club, anyone, any promoter or club, even KKS. In fact I still proudly display a KKS sticker on my car since 2001 and promotes heavily for the club to new members ( just ask Kasim ). But I just appeal for club decisions which will promote the sport rather than to keep it a minority or elitist sports.

In the end, the champions we generate from karting is only..a false representation of the real talents in driving the nation could really offer. This is why the rest of the world have so many better drivers IMHO.

I said too much - I just drive karts for fun....and those who know me well, enough will attest to that. Its just a sports and a manner to meet likeminded & sporting people, young and old.

For the record - Paul smsed me just now. He said "The Regs are clear in that we are allowing both MRF and MOJO for the open 125 class. There is no seperate Rotax Senior class"

I thanked him for his reply and further asked thru reply sms if the race will be evenly run on both tyres, and if this situation will be safe with the differing tyre grip levels.....No answer yet.

To Gary and Jules,

I am not speaking on this because Paul is my friend but I think what has been written is somewhat distorted. Paul was in the USA for about 2 weeks. He came back just last week and started to sort out the SR for the Club race. The SR were sent out before his return. That's why he would not sms or call you back.

Regarding the comment by Gary about the Club. Do you know that each year when the Club has its AGM, how many of you turn up for it. Ask yourself! The people who turn up are all the marshals, officials. I have yet to see one driver turning up for the AGM during all these years that I have started to attend the meetings. If you feel strongly that there should be changes in the way the Club is being run in terms of competition, then please, please turn up for AGM. The Club is for the members/drivers. You can have your say during the AGM. Why dont you exercise that right instead of writing in the forum about your unhappiness.

I would like to see some changes too but unless we have a voice, there is no way things can be changed. Think about it.

While it is certainly true that the AGM is the best forum for discussion of club issues, by definition it only happens once a year - miss it and your chance is gone for a whole year.

It would be nice to have meetings more often than that - perhaps directly after each KKS race. Most of us will be there, throw in some food and non-alcoholic drinks and we could all socialise while chipping in our 2 sen worth to the club bosses.
