Simple really, what is the post-race scrutineering procedure like where you race:?:

How about after heats and qualifying - do you have random checks on rear track, carb settings etc:?:

I think even with a sealed engine concept like the Rotax Max it would be good if say at least the winner for example had his engine opened and a few things checked. It doesn't always have to be a comprehensive check that will take a few hours but check different things at different times. :D Even though the engines are sealed I know that sometimes they are sealed in a hurry so not everything is thoroughly checked - for example if a driver brings his engine to be sealed on race day.

the very minimum steps should be..

trials, heats, pre & final should check for:
weight limit
carb size

race finish:
all awarded finishers + 2 should have engine c.c. checks

most importantly ban/refuse any cheats in the future
organiser have to be firm..

I think this has to be decided case-by-case.

If a new cadet driver for example buys an engine off someone and races it and gets disqualified for having some illegal stuff on it then obviously a request to have it fixed is in order rather than a ban because it's very likely that the driver/father/team had no idea about the illegal modifications.

Even with extreme cases the ban should be a race or two or a season depending on the circumstances, not forever. Fines in conjunction with a ban of some defined length are ok imo as well.. once the fine is paid you're allowed to race again. :D

For example running the rear width over 1400mm is also cheating - but you will never get more than a disqualification for it (in Malaysia it has never been checked that I know of - in the UK you often see people getting dq for rear width)

should at least try yellow card & red card thingy. yellow card for 1st offense, red card if got caught again meaning ban.

I much prefer the fine be the following year the driver racing number should add the word "CHEATED"

That's the beaut about my-kart, man. we dont have TIME to tamper with our rental's engines, even our top 125 runners who run their own karts don't tweak 'em.

No cheating with rentals I can understand, but how do you know your top 125 runners don't cheat?

What method do you use to check for this?

As far as I know there is a big potential for cheating in all categories of racing, right up to F1. Whenever the organisers are not strict and when the racers are competitive the incentive to cheat is too juicy. No body likes to lose and when the chances of getting away with cheating are high most teams will go for it...

The problem with cheating is that it eventually kills the sport. Cheating costs money - sourcing for exotic parts, R & D to find something that is illegal but difficult to police [remember Honda F1's fuel tank within a fuel tank?]. So being lax on cheating results in the sport becoming more and more expensive. In the end money talks the loudest...

Cheating also creates a moral dilemma -"should I cheat or not", which usually correlates with "if I cheat what are the chances I can get away with it?"

The usual outcome is that people get sick of it, tired of pouring more and more money just to remain competitive and leave the sport.

:thumbleft: I agree. In Malaysia I remember KKS used to be more strict with checking engines but the past few years it has gotten more relaxed to the point that no engine is ever checked. Contrast this to what they're doing in Thailand - they're adhering a lot more strictly to CIK procedures and the engines including the bottom end of all top (3??) finishers. Numbers in Thailand are up.
