Hi Mikko,

I think you should add the ASRs to this thread. There is an important change in start procedure - starting position for both heats now depends on Qualifying...

Races have been run. I'll have the full results scanned and posted tomorrow before noon unless KKS gets the results uploaded first.

Nabil was 1st in Juniors, Arjun Maini 1st in MicroMax followed by Brendan Seibl... Harry Anthony won Masters... I was first in Seniors followed by James Lee and Fei Hoong.

An excellent days racing - all the finals had some really good dices dices - normally for the lead although Mikko made the lead battle for the seniors uninteresting but James and Fei Hoong made up for that for 2nd place. I counted 6 changes of positions between then and might have missed some.

Well done to all the winners and everyone else - it was one of the best days racing we've had.

cheers - saw results! Mikko's win by 8 seconds......and having the fastest laptime I think makes up for his unfortunate Rd 3.

John - two 2nds ain't bad too! ( DD2 had only 2 drivers.....darn I would be a confirmed 3rd! )

Noted that there was a high rate of drop-out in Juniors too.....I can imagine there were lots of paintwork exhange in course of the races!

A big thank you to all involved in organising Round 4 - the weekend ran like a Japanese watch - the action ticked over surely and smoothly, without any fuss!

Bringing in the Chief Scrutineer from Indonesia was also a wonderful idea and we hope it will be written into the new SOP for every race. After the final scrutineering there was a lot of talk by the non-Kartmore teams about the rules. Apparently we were under the mistaken impression that the Rotax series is for box-stock, "out of the factory" spec engines. We now know that you can improve the engines, provided the factory tolerances are strictly followed. ...We predict a whole lot of hard work for mechanics in the three weeks before Round 5. :D

For the first time I watched every minute of every final [yes, even the DD2, for Fei Hoong's display of rally driving] because all the races had exciting battles.

The number of incidents in the Junior Final is something to be looked at in future races. These are young and eager drivers who do not have much experience yet, so we would not like to see anyone getting hurt or getting discouraged and leaving the sport.

One suggestion to the sponsors - the show is fantastic, so it seems like a shame that only family and friends turned up to watch. A small investment in publicity would bring a big return in exposure and, since PLUS is the main sponsor, it would bring an immediate return on investment from the tolls collected from spectator vehicles!

Finally, congrats to Siti Shahkirah and Rahul - two great drives in the Junior Final that were rewarded with nice trophies...

Mikko's drive in the pre-final from far back was the highlight for me - he just cut thru everyone and looked so comfortable at a speed no-one could get close to. If only I could get my chassis set-up so good every weekend (actually Mikko wishes he could as well).

I was pleased with my results - it was good being back in the Gillard and competitive in the masters again :-)

Alex, I am really surprised that you did not know that you are allowed to improve as long as you stay within the limits set by Rotax. In fact the Technical Regulations is available from the Rotax webpage as well as from ours all this while.

I am really glad that everyone enjoyed the race and hope they will now return for the last round on 9/10 August. I am planning to do another 3 rounds for October, November and December. I hope to get this done with KKS if they are not too pricey.

Check the news in the webpages.

Perceptions are difficult to change and last for a long time. I believe the "box stock" rule is something left over from the MOFAZ era.

Thanks for clearing that up James. I don't claim to be the brightest bulb in the room... :D

...that's why we chose to buy a "race-tuned" engine from the best technical team in Malaysia. Too bad it did not work!
