I like the heat system how for the 3 heats you start in the same place as you qualified.

Which is how it is almost everywhere except in Malaysia. ;). Makes qualifying more important. Not sure why KKS has heat 2 positions determined by heat 1 finishing order.

The pre final and final were dry which was fun as the track is truly awesome to drive in the dry. Competition was very tough as well.

It is a wicked track :D Especially in something fast.

28 karts in the seniors race.

Is that all seniors(rok+rotax+open) together or just 125 Open?

The cancellation of the Malaysian Airlines flight to Macau due to bad weather was a clear indication of a wet weekend to come and boy did it rain.

The field was respectable in the Mini Rok, Junior, and senior categories and there was clearly a quality field at Macau over the weekend. On friday, during free practice, the weather was damp/wet and in the junior category, the clear favourites were definately Kevin Susilo and Rio Haryanto from Indonesia while the dark horses were Javi Benitez from Phillipines and Sandy Stuvik from Thailand for overall honors although one must be mindful that the junior and senior race was being run with 3 different engines with 3 different weight limits to compensate for the minor power differences.

In the senior category the favourites were Tin SriThai, from Thailand, Stefano Marcelo, from Indonesia and Aaron Lim, From Malaysia who had come to do a one off race to keep sharp for the upcoming racing season. Dark horses was Fahmi Ilyas from Malaysia and Vica Chong from Hong Kong.

Saturday qualifying saw a rapidly drying track for all categories and payed havoc with kart set ups and tyre choices but as the day progressed it got from damp to wet to wetter. The H3 for seniors was cut short when heavy rain caused several kart to spin off and crash on the start/finish straight. This resulted in the pre-finals being cancelled for all classes.

Sunday started out cloudy and we were all expecting more rain but thanks to the inconsistencies of the weatherman, the sun came out shining and we had a wonderful day of racing.

The race of the day was definately the senior final with Aaron Lim and Tin Srithai practically side by side for 25 laps. On the last lap, Tin was ahead but Aaron made his move on the 2nd last corner to take the lead but Tin had other ideas and came back immedietly to take the lead and the chequered flag. Honorable mention must go to our own Ryan Mumford who finished 5th in the race.

Overall it was a wonderful weekend. We got to race on all the different track surfaces and as usual the officials were their usual efficient selves. Everything ran like clockwork. They really know how to organize a race and as the years have passed even become much more friendly.

As competitors, the racing was good and fair and the overall atmosphere in the paddocks was competitive but friendly. Minor incidents on the track stayed on the track and we will be looking forward to the next AKOC race.

Got all the results and will try to get it to Mikko to post.

MSN, Thank you for the correction. This is a case of the fingers moving faster than the brain. There were also many competitive drivers out there and I could not name them all

Can someone tell me the difference between the engines that are used in the Senior Category?

Ie. how can a ROK hope to compete with the Max? Weight penalty? Mods allowed?

Then whats a FR125 Open....Max with unlimited mod?

Btw, the starting position for ALL heats as based on the Qualfier is the norm.....and I recall this in my AKOC 2006 race. Yup great to start 8th in a field of 20+ each time! :bounce:
