my-kart.org | karting for amateurs in Malaysia

Postby Fazz Rahman » Fri Jul 13, 2007 8:36 am

Thanks to Mikko for setting this forum up.

A few years back my good buddy Azlan and I founded a karting group. We love racing as a spectator as well as a participant... unfortunately neither of us were blessed with loads of cash. :)

Fortunately for us there were people out there who would rent karts for skint people like us. So we organised a few sessions with a group of friends. for fun - we called ourselves malaysia karting amateurs racing team - or my-kart for short.

Soon the word of mouth spread and we meet many more friends of friends who would join us - either occassionally, or regularly (buayas who want to collect championship points... lol).

Talking about championships - well yeah - you do collect championship points over a year long racing season. that is the fun part of it. it is not just about going fast on one lap on one race all by yourself. It is about racing (note: not driving ;) ) consistently throughout the season, with a bunch of cool guys and girls!

For those of you who are serious, you get started in karting. But if you feel that money is a constraint and want to learn the ropes before committing - join my-kart dot org - we are the Foundations of Motorsports. We aim to popularise grassroots motorsports: this is for all of you spectators and partcipants.

Anyway, enough talk - head over to our website at http://www.my-kart.org for more information... and how to join our group. Also you can google for amateur karting in malaysia. :)

My-Kart has also greatly helped to boost the numbers in the local AAM-sanctioned racing, so I think kart-shops around the country should be providing kart rental/services to these guys at no-profit as a thank you :D. There are quite a few drivers now racing year-round that started by joining the My-Kart events.

Whenever I got emails through the karting malaysia website with people asking about getting started I always told them that joining the my-kart fun was a great way to get a start in the sport and see if you're interested in progressing further.

Thanks for joining the forum fazz!

thanks mikko for the vote of confidence for my-kart.

we all have common goals here with regards to motorsport in this country. i would love to see the sport grow to the level that malaysians become as passionate about racing as the japanese and europeans. i would love to see the creation of a malaysian tifosi. :)

mikko - is there a particular section (say karting sources in malaysia) this thread can go without getting lost amongst other discussion threads?

Let me add my vote of confidence to my-Kart. I was involved in Karting with Fazz and Azlan before they formed my-Kart and know what great organisers they are and also how passionate they are about helping people start racing. They're pretty good drivers as well :-)

Great to see the enthusiasm you guys generate and the way you have brought this sport to people who otherwise never get to enjoy it.
You guys r the real deal in my opinion unlike some others who can only moan about not much are being done for the grassroots and development for the sport while they themselves dont do much about it.

thanks sprocket. 8)

each of us plays a role in the whole motorsports scheme of things... ours is to help get people involved in karting at the lowest level with a view to graduating some into more serious karting / racing. so far, we've managed to get some youngsters getting more serious... ;)

hopefully too, we can get more people to understand what karting and racing is really all about.

Would also like to acknowledge Fazz and My-Kart for the great effort to push karting in Malaysia the low budget way. Well done guys, keep it up.

I would like to say thank you to Fazz and Azlan for creating such a wonderful club for everyone. And I must say that I have learned so much from the people in mykart. Confident with the founders that they can make it even further with the club.

Fazz the my-KART website seem abit confusing. I dont know how to get to members registeration form. I dunno where to click. when i click at the printer friendly thing, it come out only the title. Is it because i havent join the web member yet? But even joining the website member seem a little confusing. And what should i choose for groups. I think you have to teach me how 2 join. When is the next round maybe i can come and have a look. And do they have any member registeration form at the next round. I still have to try real karting in karting track 1st before joining my-KART and my dad's permission. Thanks for your help. Cheers

Well you can just come to the track this saturday. It'll be easier for you to get to know about my-KART, believe me. Yes you can register during the event itself. They are pretty helpful so don't worry about it ;) . But since this is your 1st time trying to drive a kart, I suggest you gain some experience by going the track itself to familiarise yourself with the track, kart etc. Maybe the my-KART members would help you. I'm a my-KARTer myself. Maybe I could help :). The charges? Just pay for the track rental and I'll see what can do ;)
