I feel SG lack a proper kart track. Proper kart tracks, like those in malaysia, australia, the UK. There has been development at Tuas, but its very minimal. And as i can see from the time schedules at their website, they dedicate alot of time to motorcycles. I think the group of karting enthusiasts in SG isn't big enough, hence we won't see larger developments for the karting arena. Even Kart Racing Association of Singapore has trouble finding a permanent ground for club meetings, yet alone deciding to hold a national race.

And perhaps karting should be marketed in a different way. Kartingedge promotes karting at a grassroot level, with the arrive and drive package. I'm very happy to see this. This will improve motorsports recognition, but when will they settle down and say, " Hey, i want to feel the sheer brute speed of the 100cc or the Super ROk or the 125 TaG engines?"

There are many factors to this, and money is one big factor unfortunately. I also see SMSA's website hardly dedicating any section to karting, which shows the little significance of it. With such little backing, it will be a very slow pace as SG karting community trys to take off.

haha. just my 2cents. any views?

well, there is the K1 series, which actually promotes SAFE karting..which is stupid in my opinion. Karting is never safe and motorsports is never. the K1 karts even got safety belts.

I thought KRAS has their home track already? located at Jalan Bahar (Jurong West) at the FICO sports hub, there is a track currently under construction and it should be KRAS permanent ground. They already have about 100 over preliminary application forms entered.

Some of the kartingedge members do have their own racing karts, because of the costs, not many can afford and thus grassroot level is more suitable for most.

anyway, do you have a racing kart??
and you have two accounts here? you register for a new one?

i would say K1 series met its objectives, but i wouldn't say its very practical. yeah well, race karts never do have seat belts anyway. You wouldnt want to be strapped into your kart if the kart flips or does a cartwheel in the event of an accident.

Really? I had the impression that Jalan Behar is more for rental karts, and i wonder if race karts are allowed there? Things have been really quiet recently. haha.

Yup. Sadly, thats how motorsports is. Very unlike other sports :? but hey, its the cheapest form of motorsports, unless you wouldn't mind messing around with RC cars?

Yup i do, was running a Max, going to run in the Rok category. So jxision, when are u getting started? :D

yeah, something wrong with the other account when i tried to change the email address, so got to start afresh.

I was told KRAS will organise different types of race categories.

you mean you are racing in Rotax Max challenge or just owning a racing kart for fun? so what chassis you are using and you are also gonna buy another Rok engine? where do you keep your kart?

erm, haha, I maybe getting a second hand kart 2 or 3 years later la..maybe with a Rok engine.. i like the sound of the Rok!

anyway, I have added you in MSN! :)

Thats good! There will be other categories like shifter karts and 4-stroke engines like the biland. I know there are some karts running on CVT too. haha. Full of torque. Hopefully things will get going soon.

Nah. I've got no time for Rotax Max Challenge. Probably will participate year end at AKOC. I'm using a friend's swiss hutless with a Max.

Anybody finding difficulty with the Rotax Max engine? I find the battery always give problems and the power curve is :? retarded i would say. Haha. This might start a new thread, but any way, i miss the good old ICA engines. Brutal engines.

Any members at KRAS active at this forum?

Formula 125 and jxision not to be despair things will change for the better I promised. We will try to get as many races as possible in Singapore as possible. The problem with the karting scene in Singapore is that everyone is not coorperative enough to see this sport a success but rather for their own personal gain.
The Tuas and the Jln Bahar track are all very nice track except that for Jln Bahar because of noise race kart can only race on weekend. As for Tuas because of the amount of Motorcross members logically they have more time slot. If we karters unite together I am sure we can have as much time slot as them.
In the near future you will see karting have more exposure , as for jxision I hope you can come into the sport ASAP and not wait for so long. I know study is important and I have a lot of schooling karters that not only do well in their karting but also in their school. So guys , rev up your engine and get ready for the upcoming race soon.

it would really be great to see more karting action in Singapore, and motorsports growing in Singapore, even to the schools as CCA.

Yea, and I will try my best to get into action in the next 2 to 3 years, hopefully a second hand kart by next year.

And what is the race in Sept going to be? Fun karts or race karts?

Ok will do that ? Where are you from Rock ? Might not be close to F1 date as I might need to join the Aston Martin race.

And also a few shops, dealers. We have no spare parts, tires, even a sprocket need to be order from Europe sometimes...

I really think a good track with some kart related businesses around would make ok financially.

We need a karting school, some good mechanics, some spare parts and some organisation... can we get all of the above?? I think the answer is yes, within a few years. I doubt Singapore will be <less> then any other country if the gov't want to become serious in the motosport activities..

Future will say...F1 will talk...

Anyway, this is my dream to see all of this in singapore.

Base in Brunei, before or after F1. I think I will be at spore 1 week before F1 and staying a week later.

Easy for me to change my dates to join the race. Question is sending the kart over.
