Hi,

I've read that Arai helmets are found cheapest in Hong Kong. Are there any shops located there that ship internationally? Unfortunately, last time I was in Hong Kong, I wasn't into karting.

I saw the above link in another thread on the forum. They have Arai helmets but am not sure if they ship internationally.

Any other options?

KRS is now starting imports of Arai helmets mainly GP5S and SK5. A shipment will be coming in next week in time for the new showroom at our premises. If you could let me know which type you want and your head size, I could keep a unit for you. I need to know your headsize urgently to check on the stock.

Headsize can be determined by taking a measuring tape and run around your forehead just over your eyebrows. From there you can see the size of the helmet you want.

Hi James,

Sounds like an interesting deal. However, I'm located in the Netherlands. I don't know whether this would be a problem for you?

I'm looking for a SK5, L size. Do you have more info on pricing and perhaps even shipping?

Thanks.

Freighting of a helmet to Netherlands would be a costly affair. After taking into account all the costs, it might be cheaper for you to buy a helmet from your home country from the many kartshops around. UK would be an alternative. Shops like GP Racing, Dartford Karting, Demon Tweeks would be able to do a sale to you.

Additionally I believe Arai makes slightly different helmet shapes for the Asian market. A GP5 size 60 bought in Asia might be a different fit to a size 60 bought in Europe.

An Arai SK5 is priced around 2500MYR in the Netherlands. How much are they in Asia countries such as Malaysia and Singapore? I've found a Japanese shop as well;

The shipping doesn't seem to be very expensive, but I'm not sure how accurate this is.

Also, I'm Asian myself so a helmet bought in Asian regions shouldn't be an issue. ;)

Point being that sizing might vary though ;). If you've tried one on in the shop and it was just right the one you order in from Japan might be slightly different. The risk is fairly small though that it won't be ok.

Ordering from Japan you do have to make absolutely certain that they have the Snell standard markings on them - many models sold in Japan only have the Japanese standard on them.

Also when ordering from outside the EU you have to remember that you might get taxed on it when it arrives.

If you still would like to buy an Arai helmet from here, we have SK5 and the GP5S. I have mentioned the last time, I need to have your head size. Therefore if you could let me have the size, then it is possible to get a helmet that will fit you.

The SK5 will retail around RM1900.00 after taxes. The freight charges to you will be collect at delivery.

If you still want to pursue this write to me privately at james@kartmoreracing.com

1900RM? That's quite expensive really. Depending on how much shipping would cost and whether the package would be held up in customs, it'd match the prices over here.

But seriously; no HK stores that accept international orders?
