Thanks and I sent you a reply!
Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

Someone told me that the Elite track is not homologated yet. Is that true and if so will it be ready for next weekend's race

AAM Track Inspector will be inspecting the Elite track on saturday. I should think there would not be any problems with it.

You should not be the one worrying about this sort of things. The Promoter and track owners are the ones who should be concerned about it. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any problems concerning RMC races.

Thank you James for the comforting words.

My only worry is for the kid's safety as they are also saying that Elite is not safe (thus not homologated). I trust you would have that utmost in your mind and ensure that safety is paramount.

I wish to clarify some misconceptions of track homologation and approvals. The reason for Elite not homologated in 2007 was because the track owners were using the track for drag racing. They have taken away some of the curbings and also the tyre walls get damaged each saturday night resulting in the track being unsafe for karting on sunday.

Drag racing is now banned from Elite track and the owners have decided to make the track solely for karting. As a result homologation with AAM was filed last month and a track inspection was done. A report was given to the owners as well as the operator on what remedial work should be carried out.

AAM Inspector and myself inspected the Elite track this morning. The tyre walls have been redone and tyres were bolted down. In general the area were acceptable except for some minor areas which required filling with earth to bring the ground to the same level as the track edge. The track has not changed and it is in the same confiquration.

Track safety is of paramount important in areas where it is likely that a driver will go off the track. There must be adequate tyre wall or a pastoral fence to stop the driver and kart. All homologation of track follows what is spelled out in the CIK track requirement manual. Again requirements of CIK depends on the grade of the licence. An International C licence would differs slightly from a National licence with zone participation.

In all we have taken into account all aspect of safety requirements for the Elite track. As a driver myself I do know the areas where one would likely to go off and we have taken adequate measures to minimise the dangers.

I hope the above explainations is able to give you an insight of how things are done. I always would like to stress here that go to the root for information then to listen to others who may have vetted interest and thus giving wrong infor or those who do not have any idea of what they are talking about. Both Paul and myself would gladly give you any information you want in regards to track safety. I am more concerned about the drivers' safety than anybody else.

Thank you James for the comprehensive insight into track homologation.

As you've said there are a lot of people with vested interest and whilst we always try to go to the root for information we could not discount the power of the alternative (so called) "media".

I have your number. Will call you the next time.

Day one is over :D

If I have it right, Rohairijaz took 1st in Senior heat 1 followed by Masedenal Ali. Rolf Seibl won masters, and Nabil juniors.

Much more tomorrow with heat 2, pre-finals, and finals. :D

Championship Standings.

My heats were horrible in the Seniors.

Heat 1, Turn 1: Almost at the apex and I got rear-ended properly. Bent axle, sprocket, sprocket carrier, and steering column. + a flat rear tyre. In addition to that a very sore and very swollen little finger. Don't know who it was.

Heat 2: wasn't much better, out of it after a lap because I got alongside someone but the driver decided to turn-in as soon as he saw me there.

Pre-Final: Much better for me, a lot worse for many others. I was on the pace and followed James Lee through the field for much of the race while lots of other drivers crashed out or had a mechanical. At some point the top ~5 were in one bunch - until a backmarker didn't realise there were so many of us and took out Hijaz. I finished in 3rd. Good racing. ;)

Final: Got up to 1st for a short while but then started to drop back a bit eventually into 4th at the finish. Again lots of good racing.

James Lee was first, Masedenal Ali 2nd, Afiq 3rd. Fei Hoong 5th.

Juniors:
1.Nabil
2.Hasif
3.Ryan Ritchie
