A newbie here.

I wanna know what is the difference between a shifter kart and non shifter kart.

When we buy engines for eg, buying a CRG chassis with a R.Max engine, will it be a shifter? how do we know if it is shifter or not shifter? or can we choose it to be shifter or non shifter..??

Those competitions like Rotax Max Challenge uses a shifter or non shifter? or we can choose ourself like a car's manual and auto gear?

sorry..lol..need to know more info before buying kart.. :)

Thanks.

shifter have 6 gears and a 125cc engine with about 40hp. It has FOOT operated front brakes so in the past - the easiest wasy to see a shifter chassis is by looking if it has front brakes. A shifter chassis has the attachement point for the hand operated gear lever.

non shifter i.e. Rotax has one fixed gear or front brakes ( unless its the RM1 which has TWO gears & reverse gear and front brakes )

The RMC Seniors, Juniors and Master classes run on non shifter set up i.e. fixed gear but the new rules allow now a HAND OPERATED front brake....so I was told! ( this is different to the foot operated shifter ones )

Hope to answer your questions and if I can advise you - forget about the shifter class cos there are no AAM sanctioned races in MY yet and to drive those kinda of kart, takes some skills and strength.

Cheers.

rebuilding brings the tolerances of engine back to factory specs or optimum condition.

why the need? well, cos this are race engines and we race to win! also rebuilding helps prevents/lessen expensive engine self destruct....yeah racing engine is a highly strung equipment - please dun ask me why ok.

Hi! Another newbie here!

I noticed that mostly the US-based karters use the shifter kart, but not in Europe or Asia. Is there any advantage of using gear? Does it work like cars where you can get off line faster from a standing start? Also, isn't the gearbox adds considerable weight?
