This brings back fun memories ...
Not that Im trying to be critical, but I was in KL a few months back and suggested to my buddy that we head out to one of the karting tracks. We decided to try Elite (off USJ Rest & Restaurant Area) and got into a taxi and gave the address to the taxi driver.
We spent the next 4 hours going through the same toll booth more than 10 times and going round the Highway closest U-turn (which I cant understand why its 10km away) just to get to the track. The taxi driver kept asking the locals around the area and he kept getting conflicting directions.
It was weird-crazy .... we could see the track from the highway - the taxi driver just couldnt get to a road that led to it (not from the KL highway we kept going on and not from the residential estate next to it).
Any attempts to find a turn-off from the highway meant the long trip back towards KL and back up again.
So, we finally get there when the taxi driver tries using a different highway.
And, how good is this, .... 'cause we expected a quick trip there instead of the 4 hour ride, we finally arrived around 1pm and found everyone had gone off and were still away for the Friday prayers.
Eventually, they came back and we got to take our 20 mins rides. Our wives still laugh at this 'cause they followed along and still remind us how we take a 4 hour trip for a 20 min ride.
The poor taxi driver had thought he got a good deal at the hotel, he negotiated 90 ringgit for a trip up and down .... but by the time we got back to KL in the late afternoon, the meter had passed 100 ringgit, he had used a ton of fuel and had paid a bunch of toll (those familiar with Elite will be aware of the toll booths just next to the track).
Next time, Im going to play safe and just go to Sepang or James's new track.
