Getting our Complaints and Concerns Resolved

Postby Gary80 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 2:36 pm

I read all these comments that everyone is making complaining and disputing over what should and should not be done in the way things are run in the karting scene here in Malaysia.

Well I have news for everyone, that is why we have a club which we are all members of. From my many years of being involved in karting clubs, clubs usually have regular meetings where members can raise their concerns and raise motions and then vote on these motions which are then accepted or rejected and the change made.

Every member of the club has the right to be involved in it's decisions not just the committee, the committee is voted in to run the club and meetings, they normally do not have total authority to make all the decisions that is the right of every member we all have equal voting rights

So can I ask when was the last time any of you members actually attended a club meeting and raised a motion on your area of concern and voted on it.

Also I am actually curious as to how often we actually do have club meeting if at all as the only one I seem to hear about is the Annual General Meeting which is usually held to vote in new committee members

We can whinge and criticise all we like on the forum but the club meetings is where the concerns should be raised and decisions made with every interested member involved.

We are not just drivers we are club members and have every right to vote and make decisions on how we want to run our club and race meetings.

Gary, well said. I totally agree with you on this. Club members have to voice out what they feel and then only can we improve. Most of us are KKS members and I think it is about time the club start a social gathering on perhaps 4 times in a year to meet members and talk about things in general. That way the club can get to know the members and vice versa.

Yes, Totally agree too. gotta make the members presence felt too. If not for the members, there wont be any club right? Well, not really as most of the membership fees collected are from not only karters but also whoever that wish to get a competition license be it for cub prix, rally, motocross, etc.
Most of these people dont care whether the club exist or not till maybe when they have to renew their license. I am guilty too.
Yes, let us all be more proactive and make sure the club are properly run and represent the members interest, ie. in karting.

The cancellation of the Rd 1 is another typical fiasco that is all too common with KKS. It is a normal thing year in year out. The calendar issue beginning of the year doesnt mean anything.
Leaves have been applied, hotels booked, plans made but every year its the same thing. Aaron's case is another typical scenario. Like Gary mentioned, maybe we really have to start playing a more active part in how the club is being run.

fully agreed and that's only so much a forum can do....actually very little in resolving an issue.

KKS being the one of the oldest kart/motorsports club should take the lead...IMHO.

Btw, even the My-Kart group is so much more active in amateur racing scene and social events!
Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

Sunday evening at the track after every race? All active karters will be there and I am sure most of us would stay back if the Club calls for a meeting.

Yes I agree with your suggestions. If all the drivers do stay back for sure we can have a BBQ and a couple of beers. I dont mind supplying the booze if all drivers will contribute to the food say RM20 per head. I am sure we can get somethings organised.

Anyone game for this. Maybe round 3, we could do it. Let me know.
