Hi karters

I am looking to purchase a used Kart but i need to know if a kart will fit me. I have used rentals from permas jaya and i find them quite a squeeze (see pic). My knees are at the steering wheel height and interfere with my hand position.

I am looking at probably a CRG or Swiss Hutless. I am still considering to whether to leave the kart in MY or bring it back to SG.(I live in SG)

Anyone selling their kart can pm me price and pics. Will not mind viewing in Malaysia(even KL).

i wouldnt worry too much about your knees hitting the steering wheel in the karts at permas as most of the seats there are small and not set correctly.

leave it in malaysia as there are some good tracks here. it wil save you a lot of hassle.

do you plan to race or just for hobby?

Most likely will be for hobby, as i am pretty inexperienced at karting. so far only karted 3 times at permas. Secondly age is catching up...I am 29 this year.

If all goes well I might try racing at 'clubman' level (like in m/cycle racing at Pasir Gudang) in 2009 if I am good enough.

I wouldnt worry about age catching up to you at only 29, there are heaps of drivers much older then you. I am 54 and still race in every series i can in Malaysia

Don't worry,I started racing when I was 40+.Did before also only rentals, but no comparison to the fun of a real race. Not only the actual race, but working on set-ups and the satisfaction of seeing lap times improving (plus the frustration when lap times increase...).
Adds a lot of passion into a race.

I am 1.83m tall. All depends on the seat and the seating position.A seat position more towards the back-end of the kart gives fun in trying to compensate for the lack of front grip....

I also live in Singapore.Keep my race karts in KL and have my old karts for fun driving in Singapore.

You can always drop by at Kart World ( Jurong ) to understand more about karting, karts & engines - Just ask around there. Quite a number of regular karters storing & karting there - mostly treat it as a hobby. While some of us like ( Rolf ) are more serious as we oftenly travel into Malaysia to race ( due to no races in Singapore ).[/quote]

Thanks for all the replies guys! Really appreciate it! Anyone going karting this weekend 26/04/08? Hope to meetup with some of the gurus in the forum to intro me to karting. KartWorld, Permas or KL also no problem. Really need some advice badly as I am a complete noob.

1.84m is no problem!!!
Here in Belgium (and holland, etc etc...) everyone is 1.75 +++ and who is world champion? he?

now, but karts are getting a bit bigger sinds 2000-2001.... because in old times , the only good kartpilot was a small pilot(italians...), now that is not like that anymore....
So don't worry... and also about your age, if you feel well, you are well!! shumacher is 36 or 37(?) and he is still SUPERfast in karting....

Ciao, Kristof
