I see they are not having a masters or veterans class this is a sure way to turn away many potential entrants who like myself are not interested in competing against seniors for points and trophies.

Why they dont have the masters or seniors classe but to keep the programe on schedule just run them with seniors bigger fields mean better racing and better viewing for spectators.

I used to drive rotax in kks club days and once asked why they dont balance out the weights for engine types because some engines are faster than others.

They firmly told me to go buy a faster engine if i want to go faster... so now i have bought a KF2. Simply... enough said 8)

"No engines homologated for the KF classes are permitted to be used."

There are quite a lot of drivers who purchased KF2 engines and non of them can enter the championship, ummm alot of lost revenue to the club in entry fees

I agree that for it to be successful the method used in Thailand for example should be used - importers of engines let the club know which engine they will import, and then have them benchmarked at a test to determine the weight for that engine.

Engines have to remain in standard form, and top 3 engines are always torn down after the event to ensure they are legal.

The way the regulations are now it's simply a matter of spending as much $$$$ as possible to get the fastest engine. Doesn't interest me at all the way the regulations are now.

Gary80,

Being a more senior driver myself....in age, I am supportive for at least another separate class for the masters class. I guess if there are enough such entries - KKS could be pressured to create this....

On the engine - well, all I can say is "policing" a rule is never easy and from years of dealing with clubs/organisers - there are very few with the know-how who is equipped with the technical know-how & gauges to check the legality of an engine.

An open class is the easiest solution for the organiser - at expense of the racers, so you are right - guys with $$$ normally have fastest engines. In all fairness, the KKS regs did also try to limit some of the faster/more exotic/more expensive engines.....

Yes, due to the above of unlimited engine makes ( except those barred ), no one is bothered to test and determine a differing weight limit..... so again, its a policing issue to an extent.

For weights, I do support that the 1st 3 placed guys get a heavier weight in staggered quantities for the next 1 or 2 rounds......just like the Japan GT format. Well, unheard of in karting but worthy to try...

I have often questioned on some organisers lack of knowledge & right attitude on "policing of technicalities" before, many did and some just gave up the sports....while waiting for the answers.

why bother calling it a 125 OPEN when there're so many restrictions?

might as well call it a 125 RESTRICTED.

in case they dont already know, there's already another restricted class of racing in malaysia.

Its called ROTAX MAX.

Mikko,

Great - I'm keen to start racing in the local KKS championship. Can you clarify.

1. Is there a race on April 27th? I didn't see this on the forum calendar.
2. Where will the races be held? All at Sepang?

Thanks.

Dave.

Yes, 1st race this 27th.....entries close this sunday 20th.
1st round at sepang, on AAM calendar its all at Sepang but I heard from within KKS, Elite is a possibility too for future rounds.

We should call it 125 "Malaysia Boleh" class then....LOL.

Anyhow - the above ramblings are purely my opinions and observation. Please dun flame me if I got the fact wrong....
