RMC Round 2 KB

Postby Geoff Green » Tue Apr 08, 2008 9:05 am

I watched our videos - well done Daniel Plumber showing grit & determination - injured his hand in Pre-Final, started the Final with it strapped up, got bumped off and still dragged his kart back on track with one hand to finish the race. A true blue! (and thats something from a true Brit!)
A good weekend on a track which was not easy to get the setup.
Do we know if the results are on-line anywhere?

RMC rnd 2

Thanks Geoff. Yes that was one of the harder meetings we've done. Looks like Dan's torn the main tendon to his left index finger and has a hairline fracture in the the bone as well. He's yet to learn the finer skill aspects to "giving up"... Our data shows Dan did consistent consecutive 51.0 laps in the final after he'd dragged his kart back onto the track, and yes that's with the injury from the Pre-final.

On a positive note, however, we felt it was a superbly run meeting with some truly excellent performances. Nabil, Rio, Ryan and Hasif put on a superb display of skillful clean driving in Juniors that was a pleasure to watch.

Dan reckons he learnt more at Kota Bharu than he has at any other kart meeting for a very long time. We both very much enjoy the whole culture that is karting in Malaysia. Congratulations to all involved in running the meeting. See you all at Elite for the next round.

Hope Dan gets well soon.

To be honest my heart was pumping 130 beats per minute during the Junior final. I expected an incident at the front sometime during the race but you've got to hand it to the boys. They all did fantastic jobs to keep it fast and clean. And all four ended up doing 49.9 sec in the final.

Waiting anxiously for another dose of adrenaline in Elite!

And congratulations to the Supermen - like Fei Hoong, John King, James Lee, Mikko Nassi, Imran - they did two classes in Kota Bharu, Malaysia's toughest circuit. Amazing!

I'll have a bit of a race report including pictures up once KKS has posted the results onto Mylaps.

Fei Hoong won both the Senior and the DD2 categories.

In the Seniors he was challenged by afiq in the final but afiq lost out in a collision and finished a lap down.

I started the final in 11th after going a lap down because of a crash in the pre-final and got up to 5th in the Final. Had some fun battles with Dassila, Aaron Mumford, Imran, and others over the weekend.

Masedenal had a shockingly bad weekend being ill with something and then having his battery fly off with just 3 or so laps remaining while in 5th place in the final. Imran also struggled with some kind of braking problems having him finish lower than expected.

James Lee was on form! Dominant in masters and right up the front in the seniors. I think he's fairly comfortably in the lead of the Senior championship now!

Congratulation to all the winners.

It was sad to watch Afiq to finished his challenge at lap 2 after overtaking Fei Hong at turn 3. Fei Hong accidentally touched his rear which sent him off the track. But I am happy to see he drove so well in Kota Bahru posting a very strong challenge to Fei Hong and other drivers, despite the power valve problem which the team managed to rectify only after Heat 1. After watching him raced in the Junior last year and his 1st race in the senior last month, I would say this was the most tense one for me as he was after the 1st position. I just hope he will continue improving and have a little more luck next time.

For those who are waiting for my videos, I will edit them as soon as I can. I took the juniors and senior races. However, I apologise as for the senior final, I had a shocked and didn't really focused on the race after the incident. Nevertheless, I think I would have something to post.

Kart 12 in Seniors? That's Raymond Banajee or something like that. He's an Indian driver ( as in from India ), spanned by my own mechanic and I think he seems a well mannered guy OFF track.

Anyhow, I dun know him that well and was not there to see what he did nor raced against him, so please DUN flame me.....

BUT it seems there are many incidents in both Juniors and Seniors too....

Good variety tho I heard they lost their homologation for running a non AAM sanctioned EVENT......some cub prix.

Actually, they just hosted a major drift event last weekend so I hope they repair the track ie the barriers in time for a re-homologation.

Nice track to race on, a bit dangerous in some bits and the pit entry....SLOW DOWN!
