i'm really interested in karting and would like to know how, as someone living in singapore, i can get started. i've tried the smsa website and have learnt nothing new, not even on how i might obtain a karting license to begin with.

Given that the new tracks are not open yet I would suggest you head down to Kartworld (www.kartworld.com.sg) and have a chat with some of the drivers there. A few of them compete in the AKOC / RMC Malaysia / AMC series so they will be a good source of information.
