Which kart chassis is the best for 100cc?

Postby David Goldman » Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:57 pm

I'm looking for a new kart chassis for the HPV class i will be acing this year (100cc). It has around 18 horsepower and I am a middle to light weight 15 year old, around 120 lbs. Does anybody have a particular suggestion for which kart chassis is the best? :?

what kinda tyres are you going to run on?

if I am correct - sticky tyres require bigger tubes as chassis rails....ie. 32mm.

and hence smaller tubes for hard compound tyres. Anyone agree with me?

In terms of chassis brand.....my suggestion is to choose the one that has most backup, spares and wins in your area.

I'm on MG yellows, but because I am fairly lightweight, wouldn't i have to use a smaller tubed chassis? P.S MG yellows are stickier than bridgestone YHC's for reference.

David, thats a similar classification to Australia's Clubman class. Chassis that work well there are the Arrow AX9 30/32 (or Monaco clone), TonyKart Psylo (at lighter weights) or Racer EVS (for heavier race weights. They typically use a 40mm rear axle in the clubman class.

I was thinking about getting the racer evxx for it because they win constantly. It seems that every race they go to, there is always at least one tony kart on the podium. P.S the weight limit is 360 pounds.

Can't be said enough.

Since there's always a TonyKart on the podium there I assume there's pretty good parts support as well - which would make it a good choice.

Also remember that a chassis is only as good on a certain engine/tyre combo as you set it up to be. Setup will make the largest difference - only then which type of engine/weight/tyre the chassis is supposed to work on. They all work pretty good in various conditions when setup right.

btw it sounds like you want to get the Tony evxx ;) .. you certainly won't go wrong if you get that imo.:) Do look at all your choices though - which should be what the local kart shops sell.

Although the Kosmic is pretty much a blue Tony, if you look at the bare chassis pictures, the Kosmic chassis is actually slightly different, it has more of a curvy chassis especcially on the right side where the chassis tube holds the engine mount. They use all of the same parts though, so i'm sure that they give the same results.

Tony Racer EVXX/08

in the early models, yes kosmic was slightly different, 1 development behind. but from 2007 kosmic is the same as tony. confirm by Olivier Marechall himself.

Mikko,

Other than the attachment points for the side pods, seat braces and front nose cone bars.....i dun see the differences.

Care to explain your statement based on the above pictures???

thanks.
