Seniors...maybe between 10 - 15...

actually, its a very nice engine to drive and the the throttle response is one thing you will notice. Its much crisper over the Rotax.......

Just my opinion.
Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

As they say - the grass ia always greener on the other side. Many series have come and died. Why? For starters, promoters must be serious in their efforts to start a new series. Bringing in new model of engines is the least of the problems. Stocking and supplying of spare parts is the greatest problems for a new comer. But if they are serious then having stocks of engines and parts would be breeze. Sometimes series failed because of lack of responsibility - bringing in the right amount of tyres, having stock of parts and engines as well as committing the dates to run the events.

Everyone wants to make money but at whose expense. Not being able to fulfill one's promise is a let down to all those supporters. Take for example the Rotax series. We have run the last 3 rounds without sponsors, with money coming out of our own pockets. When tyres are short, we air freight them in. As for parts, there is a constant replenishing of items. All these cost us a lot of money. But I guess the drivers are happy because they get what they want, when they want and the race dates are fixed. They know what to expect.

So to all those out there, dont wait. Join the Rotax series. You can't go wrong. If you don't have an engine, there are many second hand units available as well as rental. Speak to SHAP.

James,

Thanks for insight and as a amateur karter, I have to agree with most of what u say in regards to being serious in promoting a new championship.

Anyhow, as always - there's always two sides to a coin so I will let those in the know explain why the ROK is stalling this year. I only heard that there was some outstanding monies owing from last year's sponsorship....

Of course, all this commercial wrangling and mis-management destroys any karter's confidence in any series and hence kudos to your added effort for the RMC. Not many does that, this I know.

Nevertheless, for the sake of those seeking an alternative 125 championship, I do hope they get their act together and run the ROK series this year!

Rotax are welcomed too!( and I used to drive them too.....for fun )

It's also slower than a Rotax. The most Malaysian ROKs we had on the grid was 8 at any round.:?

I agree that in general the response is a bit smoother on an ROK than a Rotax, but you also lack the power-valve kick on the ROK and the top end is weaker. I struggled with response on the ROK all season until finally sorting it out for the Sunday for the very final round. Both engines are great once you have them sorted out. :thumbright:

I would love to race ROK if the organization and parts support and competitor numbers were in place. I'm not sure where we eventually got our engines last year but I think we had to get them from outside of Malaysia because there weren't enough engines available - or at least there was a lot of trouble getting them, for weeks they said we'd get them but it was just a lot of hassle. Not being able to get engines at the start of the season for a new championship is a problem. :?

Best is to call City Karting on 5512 5868 and ask.

if you think about it neither race series has done anything to stimulate karting within this region.. so whats the big fuss..

james leong.. its a bit wack to spread your 'promotional' tool over the ROK topic.. you could start your own topic and talk all day about why the Rotax is better.. where is the humility that such 'model' personalities, like yourself, should be showing.. too much pride is in you and such issues need to be sorted. if the rotax is as good as you say it is then people will believe it to be so.. you dont need enforce it.
you acting this way only tells us that you too aren't that confident about your series and therfore you need to act in such a way that indirectly speaks of the Rotax's credibility. we've all driven the engine, let us the consumers decide. if you feel that the series and sale of the Rotax is doing well then throw all the your buyers a 'thank you' party as a positive gesture.

Thanks jnv for your comments. I am confident of my products and the committments that we put into the business. That's no doubts about it. The issue of me trying to ROK the boat is unsubstantiated. I am not trying to promote my Rotax series or otherwise. The series is there and karters have the choice of racing in it or not. What I have written was to explain why series comes and go.

I would be happy if the ROK series can get off the ground which would give the karters here a choice of what they want to run. My bottom line is that if you want to do something then do it well. If not forget about it. I am prepared to send drivers to the ROK series if they it get off the ground since I have 10 units of ROK engines with me!

Rewarding the drivers of rotax is a must. They take part in my series for the end prize which is going to the WF. On top of that we as a series promoter has not done too badly. You are never left without tyres or rotax spares or for that matter - engines. I have in stock 20 senior and 20 junior engines right now and it is coming to the end of the season. This is to let you know that we are serious in our business.

Kartmore has just been given Laos, Myanmar and 2 other territories which I am unable to name now. This speak volumes of the work we are doing. I am not trying to knock the opposition. All I am doing is to give the best to the karters here. I am not short changing any of them!!!

As for the thank you party, you have taken the words out of my mouth. There will be a prize giving/thank you party immediately after the race next sunday with the announcement of the drivers going to the WF. Also I want it to be known that KKS and us received absolutely NO SPONSORSHIP at all for this year. What profits we made have been utilised to sponsor the rounds as well as the party.

I hope this issue is put to rest and I would specially like to invite jnv to come to the party.
