hi all,

For a new karter, would it make sense to purchase a new kart or buy a 2nd hand kart.

Use the assumption that I wont be giving up this hobby in the short-run.

buy a good used one not more than 2 years old. good way to look for 1 that is in good condition is to go to the races and ask the drivers if they wanna sell after the race.that way at least u can be sure it is race worthy. but if u see him having a big shunt, give it a miss!!

I'd go with sprocket's advice. You'll save a fair bit when you find a good deal for a 1-2 season old kart, and you can put that savings towards more tires and track time which will improve you a lot more than a newer chassis would (it might not help at all).

If you buy from a driver/team that takes care of their equipment you can end up with an almost new looking kart.
