How do you ensure your engine gets clean fuel?

When you buy pump gas there's bound to be a fair bit of dirt as well as moisture content in the fuel, and when not used for any amount of time the moisture content can increase and more crap finds it's way in the jerry can as well.

There are funnels such as this one: www.mrfunnel.com

Advantages might be miniscule but the cleaner the fuel is the better it will burn and the less it will wear out the engine.

Anyone use special fuel funnels to clean their fuel before pouring it in the kart or jerry can?

I haven't personally used anything other than an in-line fuel filter or sometimes a funnel with a very basic filter that takes out the large gunk.

I was browsing through the older posts and noticed this thread.

Earlier in the year when I took up karting I purchased a Jet-Tech Fuel Prep ....

It didnt get used except once ... it was troublesome to use given the (relative) slow rate of filter. Moreover, some of the experienced karters had found the use of a filter amusing.

Recently, we had purchased metal fuel tanks to store our fuel better. Just before transfering the existing fuel supply from the plastic jerry cans into the metal fuel cans, we spilt some fuel on the ceramic floor and noticed that the spilt mixture was fuel and water (since both liquids dont mix well, it was easy to notice).

I dont know if we will use the Fuel Prep consistently every time we go karting but definitely we will use it if we are reusing leftover fuel that we havent touched for at least two weeks.
