By the way, who is your favorite kart racer?

What a great idea for a topic!

Mine: Gotta be Ardigo. His driving style is so fluid and smooth, but still right on the edge.

note: and David, didn't see any reason to take offense in your post, so none taken. :)

I think for most people it would be themselves!

I don't think most karting drivers even know who this year's or last year's World Champion is, so few would have a favorite. Even for those that do follow it it's not as if you get to know any of the drivers on the same level as you can an F1 driver for example - there's no personal connection from stories or watching several races to form an opinion.

Even though I've watched a few races on TV I couldn't say I like any driver as a favorite - just don't know enough about any of them and haven't seen enough of their driving either.

yes....MIKKO, LOL!

Well, like Mikko - this is a difficult one. I did see a video of Senna driving a kart and I must say his style was very aggressive and right hand very often on his carby.....

What abt Shuey?

There always used to be a charity kart event at Paris Bercy at the end of each year. Most the F1 drivers raced as well as up and coming drivers and current karters. It was live TV in the UK. The best I saw was Prost - he was so smooth - just like in an F1 car - but incredibly fast.

I think I saw that video, was the race indoors? If so, that race was awesome.

That was awesome I saw it on TV once or twice when it was on. Also I once went to watch it live, only it wasn't in Paris, it was in Helsinki.

They copied the idea, with pretty much the exact same track layout as well with the track going inside the stadium and outside in the car park for a bit as well.

The helsinki version was done twice I think and Mika Salo was the main guy behind it - they didn't get quite the calibre of drivers that Paris did but it was still quite impressive. Some drivers in the Helsinki version from champ car: Greg Moore, Dario Franchitti, JJ Lehto, Jimmy Vasser, and Jacques Villeneuve.. I think Magnussen maybe and Herbert, you can actually read a bit about what he thought of the Helsinki event and Bercy here.

Oh yes, BERCY.....I saw the videos too and if you goggle it, you may find it on Utube....

Yes, Alain Prost "the Profesor" is much smoother than Senna and fast!

My personal favourite would either be Davide fore, Marco Ardigo or Benjamin Bailly... Davide Fore and Marco Ardigo are some of the best kart drivers imaginable and are pure champions.... Benjamin Bailly on the other hand is fast and yet still young and should challenge the best soon..

Any idea if Bailly is going to be in Karting for a few more years or already moving to cars? Drivers like Cesetti and Fore you know are going to be around in karting for a while still.

One driver to watch next year will be Finnish driver Matias Laine who just signed for TonyKart, along with the other Kf1 Tony drivers Ardigo, Catt, and Stevens.

Read about Matias Laine on the Tony Kart Website.. he looks very promising and driving alongside Ardigo,Catt and Stevens should only improve him moer..

Aryton Senna once commented that the only driver he respected in motor racing (up to F1) was Terry Fullerton!

My current favourite is Ardigo. We got to watch him in Macau and the way he played around with the field there was classic...

But a recent article in F1 magazine said "mention davide fore to hamilton, button, raikkonen and even schumacher and anyone who knows anything about PURE racing and they'll bow their heads to davide fore..." says alot if you ask me.. he's basically building maranello as it is anyway.. oh and benjamin bailly racing in formula renault next year so no more seeing him in KF1 next year..

This is a very hard topic, considering there are so many drivers out there that nobod knows about, it is so hard to pick. I personally think my favorite though would have to be Brian Jacobson. He was national champion at one point, and he races at all the WKA events and such. He is just so smooth, and although he is really smooth, he is very aggresive when he needs to be. My other favorite would have to be Danica Patrick. You have to give her so much credit for how well she does and the only woman to lead laps in the Indy 500.

P.S: Brian Jacobson used to race with her in some races.
