Ron and Alonso are not talking. McLaren has a big fine to pay. Letting go Alonso might be the best thing to do for both parties. To buy out the remainder of Alonso's contract with McLaren, believed to be worth at least (US) $20 million.

It no secret that Flavio Briatore has urged Fernando Alonso and McLaren to part company ahead of the 2008 season. Renault is believe to ask ING to take the bill.
Renault also have 2 upcoming young drivers. Heikki and Piquet Jr. taking Alonso in, will for sure lost 1 of them.

As msn has posted "on the last race , there are pictures of Alonso having a meeting with Christian Horner on the Red Bull Motorhome"

So Alonso is indeed looking around. Maybe his 1st choice is a Ferrari seat. Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo did hinted he love to see Alonso in a red car. but at the moment happy with both current drivers.

But is Massa happy? Even when Massa did a good job, focus is still on why Kimi didn't perform.

Felipe Massa was spotted by paddock observers meeting with Toyota officials at Spa Francorchamps, sparking rumors that he might need to vacate his Ferrari seat for 2008.

The prospect of the Spaniard's pairing with Kimi Raikkonen next year, is now gathering strength, including in the pages of the British newspaper The Daily Mail.

Im sure Shell will love to pay the bill. Plus Alonso is already familiar to Ferrari technology.. :P

win-win for everybody..

VERY TRUE! WELL SAID!

I Think Alonso's ego is tooo big. If he wants to be treated like a king, then better damn well drive harder than anyone else. Getting jealous over your team mate is such a childish behaviour. Lewis Has shown much class throughout this .

Felipe Massa has denied speculation that he will vacate his Ferrari seat at the end of the year.

It has been rumoured in recent days that Fernando Alonso is so advanced in talks with the Maranello based team about 2008 that he may already have agreed a $40 million per year deal.

The Spaniard's Ferrari teammate, according to the reports, would be Kimi Raikkonen, after Massa was spotted meeting with Toyota officials at Spa-Francorchamps two weeks ago.

"This story of me going to Toyota next year does not exist," Massa was quoted as saying by the Chinese news agency Xinhua on Tuesday before leaving his native Brazil for the weekend's Japanese grand prix.

Massa reportedly also told the Brazilian press that his Ferrari contract includes the 2008 season, and that he is already negotiating an extension for the year after.

I'd like to see Heikki go to McLaren. I think he is a very good driver and would do well there.

He's probably on a fairly tight contract with Renault for at least the next 2 years I'd think. Renault has had him in their program for the past 3-4 years or more. He's really good, just struggled a bit early this season with the tyres I guess... now he's consistently breating Fisi.

Spaniard said:
"For next year I have a contract with this team and I don't see any problem."
"I have won four races and I'm fighting for the championship so everything is going quite well and I'm happy."

Brazilian said:
"I would be very interested to know who saw my manager in Toyota,"
"Everybody says people saw him there but he was not there."
"I have never been to the Toyota motorhome either."
"When you have a contract that finishes (at the end of) next year, why should I go and speak with other teams? I don't want to."
"I am really happy in Ferrari and I would like to finish my career in Ferrari."

so both of them saying their staying. but we all know both not that happy. i would guess Alonso is being outcast and Massa hinted to help Kimi. so lets see how thing goes..

It is speculated that Todt has fallen out with Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo, including over the latter's desire to pair Fernando Alonso alongside Kimi Raikkonen next season.

Todt Snr, Jnr and Massa, therefore, might be eyeing Toyota for refuge.

Massa was asked is there the slightest chance you will not be in Ferrari next year? Answer: "No."

Raikkonen dismissed media speculation that Alonso could move to Ferrari as "just talk… It would interesting to race him in the same car but I don't think it is going to happen."

Nico Rosberg said that he would happily become Lewis Hamilton's team-mate at McLaren. "We get along well, One day I could imagine that, sure."

Fernando Alonso in Japan two weeks ago was shown details of Renault's plans to return to the world title in 2008 and beyond -- including detailed information about next year's R28 single seater, according to reports.

Spanish sources including the magazine Autopista says the 26-year-old reigning world champion met with Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds on the Saturday at Fuji Speedway, where they discussed a possible two or three-year contract starting in 2008.

It is believed that Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn is reluctant to enter a one-year arrangement with Alonso, after which he would be free to switch to Ferrari or another top rival for 2009.

Autopista said Alonso's manager Luis Garcia Abad also attended the half-hour meeting, and later with the McLaren driver's wife Raquel they followed the track action from the comfort of Renault's hospitality area.

The magazine claimed that Alonso's teammate would not be Giancarlo Fisichella, as in 2005 and 2006, because the Roman may be moving to Williams to fill the seat vacated by Nico Rosberg, who is first in line to replace Alonso at Woking based McLaren.

But Nico's father Keke Rosberg is reported to be not happy with the idea of seeing his son in the same team with F1 golden boy as his teammate.

In contention to become Alonso's teammate, then, are incumbent Heikki Kovalainen and current Renault test driver Nelson Piquet Jr.

Why not, they were teammates back in Karting so why not in F1.

If that happens, I'd be very surprised of Kovalainen was dropped, Renault have been full of praise for him during the 2nd half of the season.

Ferrari have extended Felipe Massa's contract to the end of the 2010 season.

The announcement ends speculation that there is a place in the team for Fernando Alonso if he leaves McLaren at the end of the season.

I think in that case, Alonso is going to renault then. Mclaren will surely have people willing to take the place of alonso.

The Kovalainen vs. Alonso battle will be really interesting. Wonder how Alonso would take it if he has trouble beating his teammate again?

Ferrari are smart in keeping Massa and Kimi in the long-term. They don't have the Alonso/Hamilton problems even when they are in a close battle. Partnering Kimi/Alonso could've been trouble.

There must be a room full of drivers going for that empty Mclaren seat! Wonder what Heidfeld's contract is like, he was really sour when Kimi took the Mclaren seat from him.
