It would be for a variety of reasons. For example say I've been using your software for a year and want all my sessions listed out in compact form (only a few pages), it would be great to have them nicely laid out in excel for printing.

Also it's good to be able to export the data for recall later because what happens say in 5 years time if for whatever reason you stop developing the program and it doesn't work in the next Microsoft Windows? You'd have to manually transfer all the data to another program and can't have it in an excel sheet for example.

Are you planning to integrate being able to import lap-times from MyChron Race Studio, Alfano Visual Data etc. etc to link them to each setup/session file? Would be fairly handy.

You could make the drop-downs editable - so you have the most common options in the drop down but you can also edit the text for "custom" choices.

Its nice to know what setup you had when you dominated the grand nationals or when you started P1 and fell to 23rd in 2 laps. That way you don't make the same mistakes twice.

what sheet do you use??

We've just got a sheet that we edited that was given to us back when we raced for Haase. PM me your email or something and I can send a copy to you if you'd like.

Bit of a late reply.......
You cannot go racing seriously if you don't keep notes.
In my view there is no "setup for a circuit" - it will change depending on the weather and how many and what sort of other karts are on track before you. eg if its a 3 day meeting with day one: test day, day two: qualifying/heats and day three finals, and its dry all 3 days, the rubber build up will reqiuire a very different setup on day 3 than what you started with on day 1. And the kart set up will need to be varied if (as in UK) you are only allowed one set of tyres for the whole competition.
You only need to record parameters you are in the habit of changing.
BUT: external (non-Kart) parameters are important - temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, grip estimate (just look how black the racing line is)
You need one sheet per day
You need to highlight what worked and what didn't for future reference
You must record what you see/hear the kart doing as well as feedback from the driver and laptimes
You need a big briefcase to carry all this stuff
You need a good memory
Record what others with the same kart are doing and ask yourself why its different from your setup. If you see something unusual (eg tyres mounted against the directional mark) and you think someone is stupid, it may be you. Record it, try it.

Mikko,

How about using the Kart Set-up Software you have got.

Perhaps these will remind you ?

 Perhaps we can arrange a competition with a free copy as a prize for KartingAsia.com regulars

Hi John! :D

Yeah I'll have to try out the latest version of Jet-Tech as soon as I get a windows-system reinstalled on my laptop. Silly me thought I had a windows CD lying around but that's gone missing  so now I'm on linux-only.

Mikko,

Now thats a poor excuse  Jet-Tech is the only good reason you should be running Windows

Perhaps if we get this competition up and running one of your members will be up and running before you are, email Colin and lets get it up and running
