I honestly thought that Round 5 was the best organised race meeting for the past few years. Congratulations and a heart-felt thank you to those responsible, from all of us at MIM Racing.

We wish to thank the Club and the Promoter for putting on a good series. As James said at the prize giving "a few shortcomings" but these were addressed as the year wore on.

At Round 5 we only had a little trouble with over-aggressive driving during the start of Heat 1 of the Juniors. I had a chat with the father of the driver involved and the issue was resolved amicably for the rest of the weekend, without needing to get the Club and the Stewards into the picture.

We can't wait for March 2008!

Congratulations to the winners and a round of applause to the organisers. I am pretty sure that I speak for a majority of those at the race last weekend to say that the race organisation has indeed improved. A job well done guys.

I echo your comments Alex, the big grids made it that much better as well - the racing was great to watch!

Yeah just a few cases of aggressive or just airhead driving in the Seniors as well and I think in the future we should see the black & white flag a lot more often than we have - to keep the racing enjoyable. ;)

If you think the grids were big just wait till next year. I feel the word is spreading that this is a well-run series and the numbers will continue to grow and grow.

By AMC 2008 in Sepang I predict there will be 100+ entries....

Yeah I can feel that it's really going to get good next year :D ... with the Thai drivers in there's already a fair few additional drivers. Might get back to the numbers we had in Malaysian karting in '99ish.

It just makes sense to race in the AMC and the Malaysian rounds - the smallest grid at 14 and the level of competition is really good in all categories.

Dear Guys,

Thank you so much for your comments. On behalf of KKS as well as the Promoter, I am really happy to note that you have enjoyed your race over the weekend just as we have enjoyed organising for you. All I can say is that things will only get better. In fact Paul and myself have met this morning and we are already planning for 2008.

This is how we work and we would like you all to give us the support. Please pass the word around and get all those rotax owners who have been idle to come and join the series.

I promise you an even better show next year.

I'd like to echo the other comments - the organisation was good and the racing was fantastic in all classes. I certainly can't remember a meeting where I drove at 10/10ths for every lap of every race and I think that everyone was the same.

It's also great that we've published the schedule for next year already - that will help a lot to organise business trips / holidays around the schedule. As long as the dates don't change too much of course :-)

Round 5

Postby karter » Tue Sep 11, 2007 1:59 pm

Yes i agree the meeting was certainly brillant and there were large fields in every class which makes the racing good.

I would think however that with such large numbers the promotors could afford to provide 3 trophies in each class for the overall championships as it always has been in the past.

It seems ashame that a driver can come 2nd or 3rd in the overall championship which is a great accomplishment and not be given an reward yet he can come 5th in any round which is no big deal and be given a trophy. It seems to me this needs to be addressed.

Dear Karter,

Your sentiments have been taken note. I will ensure the overall trophies will go up to 3rd place also. It is very likely we will get the trophies that are supplied by Rotax to the Euro Challenge. This will standardise the type of trophies to be given. Point and note taken.

I do not promise but I will look into something more substantial for the overall winner in RMC and AMC like maybe a voucher for repairs of engine to a certain amount with labour free or even a free engine. Let me think how to work this out. This can only come about if I continue to get entries like last weekend. So if you want more goodies, get me more entries.

I have posted in the picture gallery a number of photos that were taken during the event. It is not in a proper album yet as there is no icon to be clicked to create the album. So, Mikko, please do what's necessary...

I also have the senior & junior final videos. Unfortunately during the Senior finals (about half race distance) my camera battery was almost flat. I had it fully charged the night before but only to find out that the boys in the team were watching the shots I took earlier i.e. the Junior Heats, that drained the battery. Anyway, I will post what I ever I have as soon as I finished editing them. As for the Junior races most of the shot were focussed on my son Afiq and some other drivers that were in the pact. I hope you guys don't mind and thank you for your understanding and patient.

Hi guys sorry haven't been able to post up results, Streamyx has been down since a few seconds after I made my post yesterday. :(

Championships standings are now on the main kartingasia.com page.

Hopefully will be back online tomorrow so that I can upload some pictures! On a mobile-phone connection now.

Will get those pictures moved when my internet is live again Yazid :D.
