Hi to all. I am new to this forum. I am currently in the U.S. but am trying to get my step son in Manila interested in karting. He is only 7 years old and I am interested in finding some beginner/youth events to get him started. I have no experience in the sport, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I heard that the track in Sucat, Paranaque was closed. Any one else heard this?

Cheers

Nobody from the Philippines want to chime in?

bonzai the best way to get to know what it's all about is to go to a track during a race weekend and find out. :D

The next race should be in Boomland on 6-7 October.. the track is in Pasay City.

Thanks Mikko, I will not be able to make the weekend in Boomland but I will be in Manila next week and we are planning on visiting some tracks. I'm expecting a good time...and hopefully, learn something!

The track in sucat is up and running, I think they held regular tournaments there.

I'm back from my trip to Manila. The family visited the track in Sucat and it was a blast. A light rain was falling and made the outdoor portion just slick enough to be interesting. I also enjoyed the ramp section and the elevated track.

I was a bit concerned that my seven year old would have a tough time with the tight turns, but after a lap of hitting the walls, he quickly got the hang of it. We went on a Thursday afternoon and we had the track to our selves, perfect for a bunch of beginners. It was 600p each for ten minutes of track time and we spent 30 minutes racing. A lot of fun and now I cannot wait to try out some of the other tracks.

Thanks for all the great advice,
cheers

hi! i've been karting for 1 1/2 years now. once i tried it, i got hooked! i was surprised that there's a place where you could kart for only P250. it's at kart-trak at boomland, at the back of star city. you go there thru buendia corner roxas blvd.(pier1). it's beside baga verde.

i would suggest you go there every wed. 830pm. there's a funkart race there for beginners for only P600. it covers two heats (around 10-12mins.each) if you get the most points within the month, you get a trophy! =)

for first-timers, you may watch the race initially and try out the karts individually at only P250. you may look for us, rolan de guzman, bobby noriega or sir danny santiago (veteran race driver) if you want some tips. =)

we're at kart-trak more frequently on saturdays, 5-8pm. we also have a race there, but this is the next level, KT go-kart racing. this is the one used by the pros. if the manager feels you have the experience, you may also join for only P600 (2 heats). but you may also try the funkart (P250) on this day, and anyday of the week.

kart-trak is open tuesday to sunday. around 4pm to 11pm (i'm not sure of the closing time. i think they close even past 12 midnight if the track is full).

i guess this is the most practical way to start karting. u will earn alot with this experience. and who knows, this could just be a start of a career in motorsports.

enjoy and goodluck!

rolan

hi guys! if you're interested in karting, go to carmona circuit and try out the rental karts there if you have experienced karting in the funkart rentals in manila such as speedzone, city karting and boomland. this weekend, there will be a lot of the professional racers going back to practice. there's also a beginner's test for kids aged 8-11 in formula cadet karts. if you have no experience at all, try first the funkart facilities mentioned above. speedzone in the fort, city karting in sucat, and boomland in roxas blvd near star city. hopefully, you get the hang of it and increase the number of karters in the philippines. see you this coming racing season!
