For update, best is to ask James Leong.

Calendar 2008....still waiting! U wanna race? No shifter class unless RM1 class
Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

I note that few of you asking about the track at Ulu Yam. To keep you people informed about whats happening, the track will be ready by October this year. Reason is that we have decided once and fo all to move to the actual area alloted for the track than to do a temporary track and move 5 years down the road.

As a result of this, the track layout will somewhat be altered. The track will be International B licenced and will have all the amenities. The new layout will be available in a weeks time as I have just received the surveyed levels. Track work will start immediately after Chinese New Year and would be completed by June. Paddock areas, ParcFerme, Timing control room building will start around May. By October we should be able to use the facilities for our first race after the track homologation by CIK.

Please bear with me for a little longer. Also understand that PLUS is interested in getting the kerbs done back at Elite track and re-homologate the track. So there is a possibility of a round of RMC at Elite if they get this done. Miri track is also getting the homologation and we will see some action there too.

Round 4 RMC?

Postby gp8 » Mon Jun 02, 2008 5:34 pm

So do we have Round 4 venue confirmed? The calendar says Sepang 27th and 28th June, but I've also heard Shah Alam the week later...or is it something else again??

At the drivers briefing on saturday during the race, I explained to all present the situation on the RMC Rd 4. This is what will happen -

1. RMC round 4 will not take place on 28/29 June. This race is now to run together with AMC Round 3 which has been slated for 19/20 July. Originally the AMC 3 was to run in Thailand but because of high costs to the drivers, the venue HAS BEEN CHANGED to be held in Malaysia. In order to save cost for the drivers, I have decided to run the two race together. So RMC Round 4 WILL NOW TAKE PLACE on 19/20 July. Please take note of the change.

2. The venue for the AMC 3/RMC 4 has not been decided as yet. Langkawi, Speedway Elite, Sepang and Shah Alam have offered their circuits. A decision will be made this week. Langkawi, Shah Alam have yet to be homologated for race while Sepang is waiting for the track inspection to be done. Speedway Elite looks the likely choice. I have been promised more works to be done at Elite to have a better Parc Ferme and the access road to it will be done.

3. I will be issuing a News Bulletin by next week to inform everyone on the change and the venue for the race. The bulletin will also give information on hotels, rental cars etc for the foreign drivers.

Hope this is informative enough.

I vote for RMC 4 in Elite and RMC 5 in Sepang - that way we get some variety of tracks at minimal travel costs for drivers.

I am sure Langkawi would be great but to get there and back plus hotels, etc would cost almost as much as an overseas race for Malaysians. I think some drivers would not go just because of the cost factor.

But it is not for us to decide - Tai Koh James will let us know in due time.

In the meantime - FREE Air Asia tickets from Jakarta-Bangkok-Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur are available for the weekend of July 19/20...the only catch is that you must have a valid passport that says "Alex Ritchie", "Choo Ming" or "Ryan Ritchie". :D

I hope the dates are changed because we are away 19 July to 10 August and had VERY carefully made our bookings so that if Round 3 was delayed even a couple of weeks we would still be OK.
To be unable to compete in all 5 rounds is a disasterous end to our season.
We will be very pleased if those dates have to be changed again.
I know you can't please all the folks all the time James but that news is very disheartening to say the least!

Geoff, I am sorry for you. The date for 19/20 July have been fixed and it is not possible to change because overseas competitors from Hong Kong, Darwin, India have purchased tickets to come through Kuala Lumpur and onwards to Thailand. Since race will not be in Thailand, they just get off in KL.

Any possiblity of you delaying your trip until sunday night or monday morning. That way your son will still be able to race and have that holiday. If there is any way we could help just give me a shout.

For Alex Ritchie - sorry mate for causing you to cancel your tickets to Bangkok. I will make up for it to you.

Thanks James - we will see what transpires - notwithstanding that Ross & I thought Round 4 was well run and a great success. Our only reservation was the entry to the pit lane (not the Park ferme entry) needs some rethinking - as it was there was a high risk someone could get injured especially as sometimes drivers had to wait on track to enter whilst racers were still passing at top speed and, since the entrance was blind a back-end shunt could happen just inside the entry. The area for drivers and their mechanics to make adjustments needs to be larger. Some compacted fill or even a small amount of concrete to the triangular earth strip between the footpath and the pit lane exit would provide a larger area to work with.

Geoff, Thanks for your input. In fact before the end of the race last weekend, we have already mapped out the new changes. We intend to build a new access road coming into the Parc Ferme, the patch of earth which you mentioned would be concreted to make way for the pit area. We are also looking into the pit lane exit to make it safer.

All these will be done before we hold our next race there. Dont worry, we will sort this out. We would like you to make it for the round 4. Please try to be there.

Dear James Leong
Was told kart no 13 went off in an unusual manner at turn 1 during the jr pre-f. There was an opening along the barrier? I did not witness it but could not figure how it could have happened either looking at the site.

Coming out of turn 1 may need some protection. Now only raised earth and link fencing. Unusual place to hit but...

Remembered my son was sent back into the pit entry during his cadet days.

Thanks for your interest in safety.
