Schu becomes kart team owner

Postby RocK » Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:11 am

Retired seven time world champion Michael Schumacher is now a team owner -- of a go-kart outfit.

The 38-year-old German, who in 2007 has attended several grands prix as a Ferrari 'advisor', has now returned to his roots to bring on the next generation of driving talent.

Schumacher has bought a share in long-time friend Peter Kaiser's kart team, which is based near his and younger brother Ralf's birthplace, Kerpen.

'KSM Official Racing Team' takes its name from the initials of the owners; together with Kaiser and Schumacher, whose equal shareholding takes effect on 1 January next year, is Thomas Muchow.

"I have never lost my love for kart racing," said Schumacher, whose main role will be the development of young talent.

Michael is wicked when it comes to karting. :D

A few years ago he took part in a round of the Formula A World Karting Championships and did pretty damn good and battled against Nico Rosberg for example. :thumbright:

I really don't know if i'm just jealous, but i never liked Schumi. Maybe because he wins too much. Its very boring to watch him race as compared to watching Lewis Hamilton Race.

Any one else non Schumi fans?

I don't like Schumi either. No denying that he is an incredible driver, but he struck me as somewhat of a jerk. I like Heidfeld and Kovalainen because they are really laid back and calm.

Back on topic...
There is a pretty cool video of an ICA or maybe its an FA race where Schumi is on a Tony Kart and he gets taken out in the first corner and then comes back on the track in last and eventually wins.

Heh, my mom video tapes all of my races. Nothing that would make a "Greatest Moments" DVD though.

Definately get some footage from that 24 Hour race with Senna and Prost. If you haven't seen it, google or youtube it.

Yup similar thoughts on Schumi.. but outside of F1 he seems pretty wicked. :D

I've seen that video, I think it was a German championship round or some other high-level german round.
