There will be a class for DD2 in the 2008 Rotax Max Challenge and also in the Asia Max Challenge. I have 6 units DD2 engines and now waiting for the chassis to arrive. I will have them fixed up for Arrive and Drive. There will be one seat to the WF allotted to this class for 2008.

You are advised to check with the web pages for the race schedule.

Count me in. Having driven the DD2 in the WF, it's great fun - they are fast and the new chassis's handled much more like real karts than the older RM1 type. It will be great to have a decent grid of them - seeing 34 on the grid in the WF was awesome.

Hi guys,

I'm Yap from Sandakan, Sabah. Have known James for years now and Mikko recently and am thinking of getting a team of 3 drivers for the 2008 DD2.
Hey Jimmy if you are reading this thread..here is some info I've gathered:

Race schedule:
The Provisional racing calendar for the KKS+RMC 2008 championships has been announced:
Code:
1 1-2 March Sepang
2 5-6 April KB
3 24-25 May Sepang
4 21-22 June Sepang
5 16-17 August Sepang

Cost for "Arrive n Drive" given by James:
RM2000 per meeting (x5 total)

Minimum weight kart+driver = 175kg
(kart alone 80+kg)

James, please guide me on all/any other additional costs such as licensing, mechs that we will have to fork out. Hope that we will help make DD2 happen for 2008!!! Will confirm to you soon on the numbers!

yap,

it will be great if you guys participate - we could end up with a grid of 10 karts or more if you do. One correction, the karts are about 95kg. I weigh 82kgs and am about 5kgs over the minimum weight if a running kart and half a tank of fuel - this with the latest CRG chassis used in the world finals.

aaaah finally internet is working again. :D

Hi Yap nice to have you here, hope you guys do make it to race the DD2s.

The licence procedures are cheap and simple, you need a medical checkup and the novice/national licence from AAM costs only RM125 next year if I remember correctly. Before that you need a club licence ~RM100/year.

Great news Yap that you will have maybe 3 drivers. John King and Terence is in. I believe that there are about 4 from Johore who will be coming. I think we will have 10 drivers in the DD2. I may make up the grid myself. Hate to se you guys have all the fun.

I will more information on the chassis by mid-Jan 2008. The engines are already in my store just waiting for the chassis. I am trying to entice the Indonesians to come with their RM1 to make the grid to at least 15 drivers. How's that?

The revised race schedule for 2008 and regulations will be out on the first week of January. On the AMC there are changes which I am tellin gyou guys earlier.

The round of the AMC in Bangkok has been swarped with India playing host. The race will be held in Coimbatore. The organiser has promised free hotel for 3 nights, freighting of your karts (provided they are in a container). I am proposing that a 40 footer will leave KL for India and freight is taken care of by organiser. Indonesia will send either a 20 footer or a 40 footer depending on the entries. Likewise all other countries coming will have to arrange their karts to be sent combined in a container. Transport fro hotel to track and back will be provided. Also Lanka Air provides a flight from KUL/Colombo/Coimbatore. I will check with Air Lanka and negotiate a good price like the last time going to Dubai.

Check the Kartmore web page for further details.
