KRS is selling their karts and gear for what "I" would consider cheap on refurb items, I would go for that way before Id go for that kart on mudah just my 2 cents!

Sadly I disagree with you about that kart being cheap. Just remember, you get what you pay for so if you are already leaning towards it because its new, you may end up disappointed.

We have many used karts with front brakes as well as those without front brakes for sale. They are all ex-racing team and have their frames changed. So you are literally buying a new kart at half the price. We have used engines for sale also. KRS will be closing the racing team for 2012. We will not run a team to compete against our customers. Instead we will be focusing on giving services to drivers who need help with their engines, tyres, or karts sold by us. There will be a special service tent for those who need help. We are able to rent engines at the races also.

Rabbit3773 I am speaking more from blundered up exposure. SQ karts are decent and cool but should be a lot cheaper and that particular one on mudah is disguised at a higher value due to the prd engine sitting on it if im not mistaken. For that price however Id take James' offer and you may end up with a rotax engine which may satisfy what you are seeking. IF you are serious about a new kart then talk to James as he also can direct you to his dealer of Intrepids that sell for about 9.2k with no engine and find your self a decent used rotax or whatever engine you seek.
In the end, I think KRS is the best place to go and have a look at. The Cheetah engines are supposed to be a decent platform but I came across issues with parts and service. So something that would normally take a day to fix, can take a few weeks if parts are not readily available.
You said you are new to karting, seems like you have done your research quite well or atleast are informed on what you want. I suggest you check out whats local in person and in the flesh before you jump onto the others. But seriously for 14k Im sure you can get 1 hell of a deal.

Thanks Demon7 for the kind words. Yes for 14K we can provide you with a done one race kart with front brakes and a used rotax engine. Plus a set of used mojo tyres which can be used for some time. Kart and engine have been checked and certified for use. Parts for kart and engine are readily available. We have new karts also if you are interested.

There are some SQ karts running around in Malaysia. Many of these are brought in by owners themselves but soon realised that they have to keep stocks on brake pads and other parts to keep it going. Buying a kart from a distributor who is committed to the brand is different as you can easily obtain the necessary parts without having to wait for years for it.

Being a beginner and jumping into a faster kart is not dangerous if you have been instructed on what to do and how to do it especially on the track when you are competing against faster drivers. My recommendations would be to go ahead to get a proper kart and engine with a view of competing in the series. But at the same time we would strongly recommend that you spend as much time as possible to get to know the kart and practice to build up your confidence. It is best that you spend some time with a proper instructor who can give you the ropes on proper racing techniques and racing lines.

Message me if you need help.

Rabbit3773,

Welcome to Karting bro, the best advise I can give you is that if you are going to spend serious money, do it right! KRS has been in this business for quite some time and they are a great place to know and visit.
If you are concerned about others' safety then dont jump into an engine you feel may be too powerful for you, but a kart chassis "should" be of equal importance as well. There are many out there yes, and if you go for a brand to which there is no dedicated dealers/distributors, you will find it very difficult if not expensive or both to source parts and assistance. James' deal is certainly worth looking at and I'd start there, at least you will know where the magic takes place and you will see that their facility is the real deal. Be it for service, parts, etc they got it covered.
Anyways, good luck on your search and again welcome to karting. Have fun!!

Hi, guys. We have this package (Cheetah engine and Chassis) here in USA. The package is really cheap but the engine is not good. We couldn't run more than three practices and the conrod blew up. I spoke a lot with the Cheetah owner and he already had give up because he said was "full" of China's factory.
I told him that I had the right company which could supply them with the right conrod material and quality but he said was out. We are specialized in karting business for more than 20 years and we know that conrods are the key for a good engine. Also they had a simple carburetor and not good also. The diference between Cheetah Carburetors and Tillotson 334A it was at least half a second slower. The chassis is not good also (it could not be different) if compared with the top world manufacturers (Tony, CRG, Maranello, etc) but it is strong, I mean, the tube is thick. The brakes are also another problem because the pump start to leak after few practices. The go kart doesn't have the pills for camber/caster adjustments. But is has nice stickers. Good luck.
