Hello Guy!

I am Japanese Rotax Max driver and supporter, name is Suzuki.
I started karting 1991, and raced in KT100, ICA, FA and Rotax MAX.
Usually I supported Junior drivers and sometimes enter race myself.

In Japan Rotax race is very popular.
Next weekend Suzuka race, Max 81 drivers, Junior 34 drivers (max number) and Veteran 17 drivers entry. Very competetive!
If somebody want to race in Japan, I can help you.

My English is not good, but enough to comunicate.
I hope to grow up the karting in Asia.
I would like to help everything to give my experience from end of Asia.

Best Regards
Max Suzuki

Hi Suzuki-san,

Very interesting news and a kind offer from you.

May we know the approximate cost for "arrive and drive" with a Japanese team for Rotax Junior in one of the Japanese races?

Dear Alex san

Thank you for inquire.
I don't know exact cost. I just help foregen country drivers.
Usually the equipment and others are organized by Global that is kart shop in Nagoya.
I asked Kenji who is Global's boss about the cost now.

Chassis + engine without tyre Friday to Sunday rental fee is JPY100,000 to 150,000.
Pick up and drop fee is JPY10,000 per day, it is Airport -> circuit <-> hotel -> airport.
Mechanic fee is about JPY15,000 to 20,000 per day, it's depend on the skill.
Tyre cost is depend on drivers, minimum 1 set or bring yourself!!
And you should pay hotel, food, truck fee, entry fee, etc....
Total cost is about JPY400,000 to 500,000 without airfare.

If you are interested in seriously, please contact to Kenji.
He will explain all.
His details are following.

Mr. Kenji Kozuka

Hi there,
First of all, I haven't noticed that there was actually a thread for members to introduce themselves! SORRY ABOUT THAT!

My name is SK. 29 and Married. Based in KL. Am in a housing developing business. Started karting approx 6 months ago. Just bought my own kart few days ago - a Mike Wilson with Rok 125, was looking for a Superok though, anyways I am pretty happy with the Rok now;

I didn't really plan on going to races and so on, though I try to join MyKart events (excellent effort from Fazz and Naza and folks) as frequent as I can. Oh yes, and I have this little section on kartingasia that sells Arai SK-5s and some other accessories, oh well, the economy is not doing so good, so I am trying to make some extra bucks.

Nice being here!

Hi SK
Good to see more people running karts.
You don't have to race to have fun.
Normally you will find people practicing at one track or another at the weekends.
We (Ross) will practice at Elite on Sunday - bring your kart and have a run. We are not as expert as some but can probably give you some good pointers.

Hi Mikko , Sorry I should have introduced myself much earlier. I am Rajinder Mayer aged 47 and my son Rahul started racing the junior max this year in round 1 ,4,5. Round 1 was bad with a very old engine but some little improvements were seen with the P8 in round 4 and 5. He has a long long way to go and I hope I can support his passion for racing. He turned 12 last month.

I wanted to race in the masters but quit after I did 10 practice laps last year . The speed was too much for me and sold off my CRG. Also need to go for stress test etc for the licence and just could not find the time ( or rather chickened out ) he he he.

As for my hobby , it is classic car restoration and have recently restored 2 Australian Holdens. I also build American V8 engines in my little storage space at home when there is time. I have now put all this aside to spend time with Rahul in his GoKarting

And to all involved in maintaining this website, keep up the excellent work .

Hi Rajinder,

My dad is in his late 50s and Im in my early 30s.

This is our first year karting and we are having a blast. More importantly, its a common interest I can share with my Dad.

Maybe you can consider karting again, perhaps take it slow and treat it as a hobby. Its would probably be a good bonding tool for father and son through the years.

Hi Rajindar,

You are still young at 47, I am 54 and am racing here in Kuala lumpur, both my sons also race. As was mentioned in previous post it is a great way to firm a strong bond and common interest with you and your son as I have done now for many years.

The masters has many guys our age and they are still competitive against the thirty year olds, and even if you are at the back of the field it is still great fun.

Come and join us

Jin,

to add to what the others are saying, you're more than young enough. I'm 51 now and won the AMC masters this year and RMC masters last year. I used to race many many years ago but restarted about 6 years ago and was terrible for the 1st year or so but slowly got fitter and stronger (and lighter) and then suddenly my performances took off. Last year, aged 50, I represented Malaysia in the Rotax World Finals. I've got so involved now I'm running my own team for myself and other people and training kids - next year I retire from work (I work for a BIG oil company) and karting will become my full time job rather than a (serious) hobby.

So, you're never too old! Come join us in the masters and if you want some guidance on how to do it all, come talk to me.
