Welcome Najib. Talk to Fazlur or Razman - they both run series for novice karters in hire karts.

Fazz/Razman - how about putting some details of the my-Kart and IGCK series and how people join, costs etc up in a new thread.

Good idea john - fazz already started a quick thread and I guess their website covers most of it. I know very little about this igck thing though!

Welcome plastisin, one of the main goals of this site is to help bring more karters into the sport, so have fun hanging out here and ask any questions you have. :D

Hi Everyone!
I'm Ikmal from Subang Jaya and have been karting since Dec 07. Started out this great hobby with family members and friends on the rentals but could never get enough of the thrill and adrenalin rush until we tried out the 125's.
We usually thrash each other in Sepang but gonna try the Elite track soon, btw I'm currently using the SWH Magic with Rotax Sr.
Rgds

p.s Met Razman at one of our sessions in Sepang, and like the posts from other members, yes, a truly motorsport enthusiast he is with great personality..Thanks for all the advice Razman.

Hello guys!

Im Raymond from KL..

Tried two sessions of rental kart last year and felt really nice about it..

Got a chance to organise a small "race" for the guys in my dept today at the Shah Alam karting track..

Was raining really hard and track was drenched.. lucky the rain stopped and we were allow to start the session with practice and quali then race.. The track was wet and so we were on wet tires..

The race was 10 laps and I happy to have won in although everyone was an amateur like me :o

What really surprised me is that my lap time of 1"24 actually beat he track record of 1"25sec even in the wet.. Imk sure the 1"25 time is also done in a rental 80cc kart as the 125cc are monsters compared to the 80cc lol..

Anyways, all in all, I would really like to find out what are the way slowly into karting and maybe eventually get a kart of my own :D

Hi Raymond, welcome to karting and the forums. Look at the forum about my-Kart in the Malaysian section - that's a good way to get going.

Hello everyone, I bet I'm the first North American in this community... I'll start off with my name, I'm Alex Ellis, I'm a well known kart racer in North America, with a handfull of national level wins within the last 2 years of my karting career... I'm actually planning on paying a visit to the asian karting scene to try my luck, I just need to find a team that can hook me up 4 a big event with a kart and some tips about racing in Asia.
I am 15 years old, 16 in September, half Filipino, half British and i reside in Canada, and no, I don't live in an Igloo like most people think Canadians do, it's actually 30 degrees and sunny. Well, I'll stop boring all of you, thanks for listening! :D

Hi Alex :D

The Philippines does have a fairly active karting scene and I know there is a CRG presence there as well, I hope we'll be able to find someone that can arrange for a kart for you to rent.

Well, let me be the second North American to join in. I am Roger Ruthhart and have been involved in karting in US for 14 years. Mainly I am the promoter of the Rock Island Grand Prix, the world's largest karting street race. I also write for Vroom International magazine. I've been trying to get Mikko and James Leong to come race at Rock Island and hopefully that will still happen. We invite others to join them. I am happy to use by background and contacts to help others, so don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Boat Owner and everyone.
I love karting.
Currently i'm a grease Monkey in the Malaysian Karting scene.
Been exposed into motorsports before i could crawl and been involved in the karting scene since 1995.

Have to thanks my parents for giving me the wonderful opportuninty to be involved in karting.
Also need to say many thanks to my mentor in karting, Richard Lim for his guidance.

My first fanatical fan in karting in Raja Razman because he nearly caused the whole MORAC Langkawi pit complex to colapse with him jumping euphoricaly back in 1996 in my first ever Cadet race and win.
:P :P
Thanks for the support

Hopefully next year i can be back behind the driver's wheel with a vengence.

Welcome Roger :D... wouldn't it be great if we'd get rid of the stone-age travel contraptions known as airplanes and started using teleportation or something similar? Would make getting to the RIGP so much easier! That's one race I'd love to be a part of.

Hehey me too.. well once. ;)

Welcome to the forums Baby Victor!

That would be great, it's just wrong for you to always be at the track but not in a kart!

Well, then I encourage everyone to start planning business trips to the States at the end of August 2008 !! Or perhaps an airline to sponsor racers ! I know it's a long haul -- esp. since it seems that flights never go according to schedule any more. Maybe we can work to organize a group and get group rates? Well something to think about.

In the meantime, if I can help anyone out with information don't hesitate to email me.

Hey guys,
My name's Luigi, I'm 21 years old and currently working as a mechanical designer.
This seems to be the only active karting forum I could find!
So yea... greetings from Montreal :)

I don't really have a background in karting, I've been lapping 4 stroke for about 3 years total now. I recently sold my BRM kart and plan on purchasing a Rotax FR125Max for next summer (we have harsh winters here, summer is ending pretty soon).
Since I'm a noob to karting in terms of tuning/tweaking, this forum should help me a lot. I've already printed out and started studying the Rotax manuals and Dell'Orto guides I found thanks to this forum. Hopefully my sort of technical background and this forum could help me out in improving my driving and tuning abilities.

Peace!

(and by the way, I was the 2nd North American here, but it doesn't really matter. :P )
