:blob4: G'day guys n gals(?),

Short intro, started karting in 99 and was probably only doing it once a year, if ever at all, till bout 05 I guess. All, just goin round wit friends. Then entered the MAAC's 1hr Enduro, had a few guys from my-kart. Invited me to join em, but never really found the time till around the end of last year. So, my "competitive" karting has only been MAAC Enduros and a few rounds of my-kart K3 and grand finale. Lookin to upgrade to the exclusive K2 next yr.

Thinkin bout gettin my own kart too, but will put it on the shelves for a while, till I get settled in, in SG(just moved ere in Sept). There's still alot of time for that.

Stumbled into this site from John King's website, which I found thru his posting of discounted products in my-kart's website.

Been reading a few technical threads and found there's quite a number of pros(mikko, john & jules, sorry these are all i can recall now) which are very helpful with their sharing of info. Looking to learn and apply. Thanks.

Why have 300hp when you cannot handle a kart's 30hp?

Haha... Thanks Jules. I've meet you, sifu :P

I keep a low profile and I have only been to probably 2 handful of mykart races in the last 2yrs.

 Oh, probably my real name might help - Ruben Yap :toothy7:

Hi
My name is Sandy and am very new to karting. So new that I am just in the process of choosing a kart. I am planning to run Rotax Max as far as power goes and non shifter.
I am looking at CRG,BIREL and INTREPID as these are the brands that I have found in the area,eg Ontario Canada.
Any advice as to pros and cons of each brand will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Sandy

Hi Sandy!

CRG, Birel, and Intrepid are all top quality brands - you can win with any one of the karts.

Go to the kart shops that sell the karts and find out which ones go to the track at the races you'll be taking part in. Also talk to some drivers that are using those karts - ask if they've had trouble getting parts or if the shop has a wide variety of parts always in stock.

If all else is equal (parts availability, track support etc), go with the one that you feel looks the best ;).

Your input has made me a lot more confident in the karts I am looking at.

Frankly, all new karts that are presently homologated are good. Therefore nearly all brands can be used for specific racing purposes. What a new comer needs to look at is the parts and service. There are so called "dealers" who would bring in a brand but later will tell you to indent even your own brake pads as they do not carry any stock at all. This is not what you want as you will not get the service from them. Go for a reliable dealer who would be able to help you. Maybe they are a little more expensive but they can provide the service to you. In the long run this is what you want, certainly not the fly by night type.

Hi everyone,

I'm To Wai Bond Steven, I'm from Belgium but my parents are from Hong Kong.
I started since 2000, first in the kids club, then I have participated in the local championship. In 2006, I connected with a local team, Bluestar racingteam. We drove with this team many races, the most important is the 2 indoor karting world championships, 1 in America, last year in Belgium. I represented the Hong Kong nationals, I won the Nations Cup and was 6th overall in the lightweight class (75kg). I am leaving in 2 weeks to Brazil for World championship as the only one of Hong Kong. What also interests me a lot is the Asian Championship, can someone give me more information regarding registration and other important information?

site ikwc: indoorkartworldchampionship.com

Sincerely

Steven

Hi Mikko, My name is Tim Monte and happy i found this website. im from Australia and im 29 years old, been racing since i was 13. I have raced karts in juniors through to 100cc yamaha, piston port, rotax max over the years. I also raced Aussie legends 2002 - 2005 and was Australian Champion in 2005. Then i raced V8 supercars in the development series and did some test driving with Dick Johnson Racing. Now im back in Karts due to high $ to race V8's. I found this website trying to find out how i can do some racing in Japan, i just went on a holiday there (wow what a great place), so i guess im trying to find maybe someone that does billeting or something.. So where do you race (in Finland) if so what is it like over there.. Regards Tim monte

hi all, my name is wayne bower. im 51 year old & still love my racing.i am from australia (newcastle). i race a rotax in restricted tag. (this is a class developed for 125cc water cooled push button start engines) similar to rok, i believe.we have a restrictor inserted in front of the exhaust header that limits the engines to approximately 22h.p. the other engines that are eligable for this class are, leopard,x30 iame, fireball, cheetah & j-max.we run this class on mg red tyres (medium to high grip SL tyres) it has become a high growth class ,considering its introduction only 2 years ago.i race an INTREPID chassis & its a great package with the rotax mounted.
i love this forum, as its good to hear what is happening in karting from other parts of the world. wayne

Hi Wayne,

I'm 52 and still race competitively in the master series - for over 32's. It's good to see guys from Oz on the forum - your racing down there sounds awesome. Our racing here is pretty good but small - we've only got 2 well supported series - one for Rotax and one for Yamaha's with 50-60 local drivers at each and up to 30-40 regional drivers extra in the Rotax series. But, as you can see from some of the other threads, there's a lot of passion for racing :-)
