- anyone here can help with sourcing cheaper tyres for practice ?

- eg , all the "major" brands (eg , Vega , Mojo , MG) , have very controlled pricing (which are all in the RM$7XX range).

- was hoping get access to a more affordable stream of tyres for leisure karters and also racers wanting to do practice/setup.

thanks.

hi everyone, im involved with a karting community here in the philippines and we will soon open a store selling karting stuff. we are presently looking for a tire supplier specifically tires that we can use for practice. not too soft, but not hard either (maybe soft - but not super-soft, or medium compound) enough to give us reasonable grip but at the same time, something that will not degrade easily. costs of course must be reasonable. thank you.

Hello,

Maxxis has lowered the pricing for the SLR tire. Know Maxxis is coming with new tires mid this year next to SLR with different compound. We can offer you these tires from Maxxis:
Maxxis SLR set - 499RM
MAxxis MH (CIK till 2013) - 695RM

Maxxis Raptor - 435RM

See the website http://www.maxxis-karting.com

- having run the Maxxis HG3 (now known as the SLR) alot (practise & racing) , its not a great tyre. Durability is poor vis a vis the performance available. And its grip drops-off very badly. Difficult to find a good consistent balance with the HG3/SLR. Don't know anything about the higher level MH tyre.

- by comparison , MG Yellows are brilliant. Very consistent levels of high grip.

- Vega Whites (XM) are brilliant with crazy levels of grip. Very durable in spite of the soft compound.

- cheers.

I regret to read you are not happy driving on Maxxis Tires. I have sent you a PM with my contact details and it is maybe good to discuss your unhappiness.

Did you do the test back to back? Run the 1st brand tire then the other. There are variables if you did the test on different days. Many test in Europe and USA came out the SLR was a good tire. In England, USA, Taiwan, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium the SLR tire is chosen as the leading tire for several national races.

To be clear the SLR is not a HG3 tire. As every manufacturer tire type will be replaced in various ways. The SLR is a totally new developed tire. For your information there will come a new Maxxis tire the SLH (medium/hard).
