Postby dennislim » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:05 am

Hi everyone,

need some advice on buying gokart engine. Im thinking of buying a Iame x30 but worry on the reliability. Previously runing on an old Iame leopard and give me a lot of problem every month there's something spoil. Can anyone advise whether this will happen if i buy a new x30? Thank.

Dennis, from hearsay, the X30 is pretty reliable - but given that all engines eventually need maintenance or parts break down - have you found out who or where you can service your engine or buy replacement parts. In addition, are you planning to race the engine and is there a class you intend to drive? Also, which part of Asia are you planning to keep your kart as this would help narrow down the suggestions provided to you.

I'm keeping my kart at kartright. Planning to buy form William racing they have good support for this engine. Not going for any race at this moment just want to have fun. Do kart break now all the time? My break down almost every month.

The X30 is a pretty good engine !
It's based on the 'older' type of ICA engine, which where FAST ! but than limited in RPM, and
given a balancer shaft...
To my oppinion, when you are Able to maintain well, and you learn the carburettor, it will be
the best engine when you compare PRICE to Reliablity.
